#162203 The Legend of Zelda announcements - speculation.

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 23 January 2013 - 11:21 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I personally want the HD Tech Demo art style. It would be perfect for the first HD Zelda game. Not to say Wind Waker's cel shading is bad looking. It's my favorite Zelda game! :)

Yeah me too. I, however, will be severely disappointed if they go with the Wind Waker style. Taking a system witht he power the U has, plus HD, and of all the styles to pick from, let's go back to one from 10 years ago?

I mean the style in that demo is......just wow!!! I really hops somehow, someway, they stick to that style, or at least something close to it. It really is gorgeous.

#155921 NewLegendofZeldaWiiU

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 04 January 2013 - 06:08 AM in Wii U Games and Software

When I finished The Skyward Sword it left me with mixed feelings. I loved the game to dead but not since the original TLOZ on NES or TOOT on N64 I really got a Zelda vibe. It made me think and I replayed the original NES version to see what was really on my mind...or was it nostalgia?

Some of the things I noticed:
- The are no real maps, except in dungeons. The absence of an overworld map makes the game feel much bigger than it is and, it makes it a bit more mysterious
- The hidden stuff is really hidden, you'll really have to try and try to find special stuff
- The absence of any text (except for the intro) makes it a really mysterious world, you'll have to figure things out yourself.
- The world is OPEN, you can go where you want, just a with The Ocarina of Time. You can only be hindered by natural elements
- In Skyward Sword, The Windwaker and the DS Zelda's it didn't feel like a believable world, a connected world. Skyward Sword is only the Skyloftlevel and 3 mainlocations on 'Earth'. (there are some islands but nothing special)....yet take a look at Ocarina's map, A link to the Past or the original game...its ONE world. I get a feeling that in Skyward Sword I miss most of the world which is covered beneath the clouds.

I really hope the next WiiU Zelda will be a game which plays in 1 world (hidden, past, parallel or future) but that it will be connected, without the spacefillers like train tracks, sea or sky. At least not in such a huge role they played in the last couple of Zelda's.

(PS: The ONLY zelda ever I did not play was Twilight Princess, so maybe I missed a point there)

What are your big wishes for the new Zelda?

PS2: Maybe they can do NEWSuperMarioBros Esque Zelda game for the eShop..I would love another 2D Top down Zelda :)

You should really play Twilight Princess. you're really missing out! I got the game back in '06 when it first came out for the gamecube (I didn't have/want a wii back then). I tried playing the game on my friend's wii for like 10 minutes and did not like the motion controls.

fast forward to last year and Skyward Sword comes out. I was not thrilled about the motion controls, but hey, it was a zelda game and it deserved a try. and man, was I wrong! Now that I have played with the motion controls, I hope they never go back. once you get the hang of them (10-20 mins max) I think you'll agree.

so now I got a wii u, and decided to go to gamestop and bought TP for $5!!! and man, this game is even better than I remember it being 6 years ago, now that I am using the motion controls! the controls are different from SS (for example the spin attack you just use the left nunchuk, instead of swinging both the nunchuck and wiimote) but again, you get used to them real quick. Now THIS game is what I want from Nintendo if and/or when they make a Zelda U game!! The graphics in TP were, in my opinion, the best out of all of the games (SS was close, but a little too cartoony for me), and it was a more mature Zelda game, for a more mature gamer. for a mid-thirties guy like me, who was 11 when the original Zelda came out, TP is aimed toward us. I definitely think you should go pick one up. If you already have a wii/wii u, and $5 just go get a used copy from gamestop!! you'll thank me later!

#155159 Are there any Downloadable Demos?

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 02 January 2013 - 07:03 AM in Wii U Games and Software Help

They dont make it very easy to find a demo in the E-Shop though. As far as I can tell you have to clik on the game itself and look for an icon that looks like a signal being sent to the gamepad. They should just have a section dedicated to demos alone.

I agree. I am used to my PS3 where there is a section for demos, a section for DLC, etc. This is very confusing! Does anyone know: does it work the same way for DLC? If I wanted to see if there was any DLC for Super Mario Bros U, would I have to got to e shop, then click on the mario game and look there?

#152563 External hard drive problem

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 27 December 2012 - 11:04 AM in Wii U Hardware Help

maybe your HD needs to be connected with a Y lead & not just a single usb (if it is not a external powered HD).

it is not externally powered. you are correct. it is one of those little pocket ones.

but what is a Y lead and amp?? no idea what that is.

#152533 External hard drive problem

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 27 December 2012 - 08:59 AM in Wii U Hardware Help

I hooked up a 500 GB external HD to the U, and downloaded super mario bros u t it. no issues there. I had it connected to the USB port in the back, and while playing mario, it would go to a blank screen during the game and say "the external hard drive has been removed, please turn off the console"

so I connected to the USB I the front, even though it is an eye sore, and everything worked fine, but now I just got the error message again. anyone seen this? any suggestions??

#152309 DLC on 3DS

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 26 December 2012 - 05:03 PM in General Gaming

The DLC for New Super Mario Bros. 2 is actually located within the game itself, not the eShop. Here's how to find it.
1. Make sure your console is connected to the internet and then turn on the wireless switch ( make sure the spotpass feature for NSMB2 is turned on)
2. Put your console into sleep mode ( or maybe you don't need to put it in sleep mode, but that's what I do).
3. You should receive a spotpass message ( blue light on notification icon) for the game as long as you have played it recently. If the message is for New Super Mario Bros. 2, click the launch software option and the shop will be located in the coin rush section.
https://www.youtube....h?v=igOFOEA4q3k
Skip to 2:35 in the video for a guide to get the shop.
Just to let you know, all 3DS games that currently support DLC have the DLC available in an in game shop. Plus on the NSMB 2 DLC shop the Classics Pack is available for free until the end of January 2013.

ok I am lost. I got what you said to work, but I have no idea where the coin rush menu is??? I go to the Launch software button, and it takes me to the game where I can select single player or co op. I do not see any gold rush mode! please help me!!

#152268 DLC on 3DS

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 26 December 2012 - 03:44 PM in General Gaming

I jusy got the 3DS for my son yesterday. He has SMB 2, and I understand there is some DLC for it, but I cannot for the life of me find it on the e-store. am I missing something? anyone have any suggestions? I am used to the PS3 - demos in one area, DLC in another, etc. I don't see any DLC so far. Thanks!!

#152053 Wii store not working?

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 26 December 2012 - 05:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

You use the Wii U eShop, NOT the "Wii shop channel".

yeah but they gave me a 16 digit code and said to enter it from where you get the virtual console in the Wii menu. I will try the Wii u e store in the meantime. thanks.

Before you do anything, are the eShop and Miiverse working? Are any other online features of the Wii Mode working? If so, then it might be a problem with the shop at the moment, if it continues, I'd recommend calling Nintendo.

He's talking about the Wii Mode on Wii U, that's how you get the Virtual Console games. But just to be sure Legend, are you using the Wii U eShop? Or are you selecting the Wii Mode, and then going to the Wii Shop Channel? To get the Virtual Console game, you'll need to go on the Wii Shop Channel in Wii Mode.

no, I was selecting wii mode, then going to Wii shop channel. it worked now. I guess the wii shop was just down last night. thanks to all of you for helping!

#151996 Wii store not working?

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 25 December 2012 - 09:07 PM in Wii U Hardware

I just registered my kids' Wii U and 3 DS at club Nintendo and had enough coins to download a free game from the Wii virtual console. First time I got to the enter code screen, then it told me To check my Internet connection under settings on the Wii u menu. I did and everything was fine. I have since tried multiple times, and I cannot even get that far. when I go to the Wii menu and click on the Wii store, it just keeps giving me the Internet connection problem message. is something wrong with the Wii store tonight? anyone else having this problem? my firs interaction with Nintendo after purchasing two of their systems and needless to say, I am slightly displeased. Thanks!

#149268 Zelda U?

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 18 December 2012 - 11:17 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Haha touche my friend! although I gave it a little more than 30mins, but hated and I mean hated the time limit! The game has massive potential but ruined by the fact that if I'm not quick enough of finding what I need to find, then I have to start again!.....pffft... pffft righty then. I know you can slow down time yada yada, but honesty it felt like groundhog day with Bill Murray....was not a happy chappy, I think thats when I started drinking.... :P

Haha anyway yeah a new Zelda is my vote, open world, some new tunics and weapons, epona, and a sidekick like Midna from TP, also some magic wouldn't go a miss, and that dominion rod and spinner from TP were great to use.

Please o please the next time we pick up bugs or whatever it doesn't pause the game and tell you what it is....that was annoying!....ok I think it's time for me to go to bed, I'm getting grumpy....lol

Listen, it's an "ok" game. I mean back in 2000, I played it with as much enthusiasm as any other Zelda game. But at that point, I didn't know what I know now about it. It was just a little annoying, and no Ganon, no typical Zelda stuff. i don't know. It just did not hold my interest.

For me, I am the type of guy who plays a game once...and that's it. I NEVER go back and replay games, yet I have played OoT AT LEAST four times! I started to replay Skyward Sword (which I loved!) because I worked my tail off to get that damned hero shield and wanted to replay with it, but at the age of 37 and having two kids, it's really not one of my priorities right now! But i will say this: after I give my kids "their" Wii U for Christmas, and the early 24-7 excitement dies down for them, I am dying to replay SS on the U! Just hope this data transfer stuff I keep hearing about from the Wii to the U works!!

I just saw over on IGN that their was some "tech demo" for Zelda U (I know - it was last January, I guess I have been living under a rock!) and my gosh it looks amazing! I really hope the final game takes advantage of the U's power and has graphics liek that! I mean just wow!!! And I hope they stick with the adult Link. I just like him better than the Link in diapers.... ;-)

#148903 Zelda U?

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 17 December 2012 - 11:06 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Well majorsa mask is coming. No release date but I did hear n see a video on it.

Now a new Zelda would be great.

oh God, I hope not! easily my LEAST favorite Zelda game of all time. When I got my Wii, first thing I did was download OoT and MM from virtual console. I played OoT all the way through to the end, and loved it as much as I did back in '98! Majora's mask? Probably played for about a half hour. Haven't touched it since. Just a bad game. Nothing to do with Zelda continuity. Just did not feel like a "Zelda game".

I would rather them concentrate on an all new Zelda game. If they are going to remake one, then let it be the greatest of them all: Ocarina of Time!!

#148897 mario bros u multiplayer question

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 17 December 2012 - 10:56 AM in Wii U Games and Software

quick question: one of the selling points I had with my kids for the wii u was seeign the Mario game where one is playing, and the other can use the gamepad to help (or hurt! haha) out the 1st player by placing blocks, etc. Is that considered a "multiplayer" game? so if my son is playing a single player game, and saves on world 3 for example, and then the next time he continues and my daughter wants to help him out with the gamepad, can they do that? or do they have to start a new save file in multiplayer and use THAT one to continue when they want to play together?

it is so confusing! things were so much easier back in 1986!!!

#148894 How is Skyward Sword?

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 17 December 2012 - 10:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

You don't like TP? I thought it was great! But each to our own I guess :)

YES! Skyward Sword is a great game and a must play for a zelda fan, infact it's a must play for all, even the die hard Skyrim players, if they just chill out a bit and play a beautifully crafted game. SS has a very surreal feel to it, it's colourful and the motion controlls work very well with it, it's a shame it came at the death of the wii to get it right!

Anyhoo....Lanayru desert had me enchanted, and was in awe when playing that part of the game at first. Sure SS has room for improvement, as I prefer an open world like OOT, but still this game is great to play and am sure will quickly become one of your favourites. But I do hope the next Zelda looks like that tech demo from 2011! and is more like OOT/TP design :P

Get SS you won't be disappointed....infact I'm going to play it again, since you brought it up...cheers!

I was just about to say the same thing! since apparently, we won't be getting a Zelda U for the foreseeable future, I think I may go back and play it again on the U. I won it last year; went nuts trying to get the hero shield (or whatever it is called) and got it to use when replaying, then never replayed.

I thought the controls were awesome! I know, I know, it's not what we as Zelda fans are used to. Sometimes,w e don't like change, and I was not happy about the controls at first either, but you know what? It's a Zelda game, so it was worth the try for me. and once you get used to the controls, they are amazing. VERY responsive. These people that say the controls are no - I have no idea what they are talking about. Not being mean, but I just don't. I am by no means a "great gamer" - I just play to have fun, and the controls came naturally to me. the ONLY time I had an issue was on the final boss. I won't give away much because OP obviously has not played the game yet, but there is somethign you have to do MANY times (and quickly) that was a little difficult. Mosti times, I was able to sit on my couch, left arm on the arm of the couch, right arm on a pillow to my right. little wag of the wiimote here, little swing there, everythign worked great. But for that final battle? I needed to sit up (sometimes stand) to make sure I did it "right". Yeah, if I had to do that the whole game I would not have been happy, but it was 5-10 minutes or so, and the ending was worth it.

listen: bottom line is it's a ZELDA game! Zelda music, zelda rewards, Zelda gameplay, Zelda quests, Zelda dungeons, etc. If you like Zelda, you'll love this game. Hope this helps!

Now I can't wait for my kids to open THEIR Wii U on Christmas, so I can play this again!! haha

#148082 Age of wii u buyers

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 14 December 2012 - 01:37 PM in Wii U Hardware

I'm 37 and basically pretended like I was buying the wii u for my kids! While I do somewhat like Mario, I am really waiting for a Zelda game. even a metroid game. I'm not really into the newer stuff, but if they come out with a Castlevania 16 or a Zelda 22 game, I am there!

I am really impressed that there are a lot of "senior members" here like myself! figured it was all 14 and 15 year olds!!

#144579 eshop 1 console download rule

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 06 December 2012 - 11:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

I contacted Nintendo about redownloading games purchased from the eshop to a new external HDD this is the reply:

"We can confirm that the entitlement for the game is linked to the console not to the external hard drive. As long as the eShop account is not deleted on the console it is possible to re-download the game on a different hard drive. Re-downloading the game will not restore any saved game data that may of been on the previous hard drive.

We wish you a happy gaming experience."

this makes no sense to me. so my friend downloads SMB U onto his external hard drive. I then bring my external hard drive to his house and he downloads to mine. I can now play it on my Wii U when I plug my external hard drive into it?

I mean they go out of their way to link purchases to consoles (so if you upgrade your Wii U at a later date like I did with my PS3, you can no longer use content you purchased) but somethign like this can be done? makes absolutely no sense to me!?!?! Can some one explain?

#143224 Wii U data transfer help!

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 04 December 2012 - 09:46 AM in Wii U Hardware

I have a somewhat related question for this. I got the Wii U and 3DS for my kids for Christmas. Trying to stay away from disc-based games, so I got a couple of eshop cards to download some games.

Question is: my kids still play the wii, so I do not want to do the Wii transfer thing until the last minute. But I want to download a couple of games so when they open the Wii U and 3DS on Christmas, they don't have to wait hours for me to do the update (I have done that already) and reddem the cards, download the games, install the games, etc. So if say, I download Mario Bros U on the Wii U, and then AFTER that go and do the wii transfer to get old games/saves from the wii, is that going to pose a problem with any games I downloaded on the Wii U? Basically, what I am asking is, the transfer does not wipe out the U's hard drive, correct?

#138663 Your experiences with the "Wii U Transfer Tool"

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 26 November 2012 - 05:01 PM in Wii U Hardware

Yes, you could do that since the data about your purchases, your Wii Shop Channel account data, will also get transfered to your Wii U. It will be then as if you actually bought your games from the Wii U in first place. There is a button saying "Downloaded games" or something like that in the Shopping Channel and there you can redownload all the games you once paid for.
I actually found my DK Country games there as well now and tried searching them in the VC catalogue where they really got removed like stated for yesterday. That shuld be a solution already to one of the problems I saw in first place. Good to see that this is no problem. I think until Friday I'll buy two eShop cards to try something out yet. =3

thanks again!

#138426 Your experiences with the "Wii U Transfer Tool"

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 26 November 2012 - 11:10 AM in Wii U Hardware

Hi there! =3
Well, you don't actually need an additional SD card but you'll loose everything on the SD card you use because of the formatting process. I actually have several SD cards at home so I'll use a normal 1GB SD card for the process. Afterwards I'll need to redownload the channel data for all the WiiWare & VirtualConsole titles.
As far as I heard it's said to be possible to transfer the channel data directly as long it was on the Wii memory before you started the transfer. Because of that I simply transfered "Donkey Kong Country 3" and "My Pokémon Ranch" from the SD card to the Wii memory now.
I can't say if there is an option to copy channel data directly from an SD card but since I use another SD card for the transfer process the data from my other SD card can't get formatted.
About your savefiles I just can recommend you to copy them to your Wii console. The YouTube videos show that most of the savefiles get transfered as long they aren't console-locked like the Super Smash Bros. Brawl file. I didn't hear about that the Brawl file actually gets deleted during the process but I'll check on that. If I actually should loose my Brawl file it's not such a big deal for me because in Brawl there aren't efforts that are one-time-events and couldn't done another time. =3

The Wii U hits the market in Europe on Friday and as help for others I plan to do a video on YouTube that brings facts to the questions stated here so far. If anybody feels like there should be more things I could check on then just add those problems here. (-^.=.^-)

first off - thank you for the response! I am not even really sure what exactly I have on my SD card. the only reason I even got one was because I ran out of memory on my wii. I think my disc saves are on the wii, but I think it is really just the virtual console downloads I got (I think SMB3, SM World, Mario Kart, etc) that I have on the SD card. So if what you are saying is true (and I think I saw something similar in the Wii U instruction manual - which is confusing for this process by the way) I think you are saying that since I downloaded those wii virtual console games, I can just wipe out my SD card, use it for the transfer (Wii points, miis, game saves, etc) and then once everything is configured on Wii U, then go and re-download those titles from the virtual console once again (now on the Wii U), free of charge?

Thanks!

#135473 Your experiences with the "Wii U Transfer Tool"

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 23 November 2012 - 06:12 PM in Wii U Hardware

This is the perfect topic I have been looking for! I have heard all about this using an SD card for the transfer option, which SOUNDS easy enough. My issue is that I ran out of space on my old Wii, so I used an SD card for some of the games I downloaded from the wii store. Now I saw you said when using the transfer tool, it formats the SD card, which makes sense. My question is, do I need to buy ANOTHER SD card? Or can I somehow copy wha I have saved on my Wii SD card to the Wii U, then use the (I assume to be now blank) SD card for the transfer option?

If not, how can I get my saves that are currently on my SD card to the Wii U? Or can I at all?

Thanks!!

bump.

does anyone have any thoughts on this? thanks!

#135489 DO NOT BUY DIGITAL DOWNLOADS!

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 21 November 2012 - 12:12 PM in Wii U Games and Software

OMG dude that is ridiculous, lets hope Ninetndo sorts this one out.

I don't think they will. I just found this out the hard way w/ my PS3. I finally upgraded my 4 year old PS3 to the new 500 GB one. was all happy. backed up all the movies, videos, etc that I had purchased in the PS store to my external hard drive. I was even able to restore them to my new system, but when I went to play, it sent me to the PS store, where I was told I needed to re-purchase the movie. Supposedly, according to Sony, it's not a Sony thing, it's not a Nintendo thing, it's a copyright issue. the industry is afraid people will download the movie, then give their network ID to someone, else, who in turn will just download to their system, etc. sucks, but I don't see any way it's goign to change. Best thign to do? do NOT buy these digital movies, games, etc.

#135469 Hello All

Posted by Legend_Killa7 on 21 November 2012 - 11:50 AM in Introduction Central

Hey guys. I'm new to all this Wii stuff.

I am in my mid 30s, grew up on Nintendo (NES, Super NES, N64). It took me a while but I eventually got a Gamecube and was not impressed. I then did the impossible, and switched to a PS2 (don't kill me!) I never got the Wii until last year (Zelda Skyward Sword!). Just never thought of it as that good looking, plus the price and all. Long story short, even though I now consider myself a "Playstation guy" (I do own the PS3, and absolutely LOVE it!), I do have two kids, and just saw this wii U and felt some nostalgia for it. We are buying my son a 3DS for Christmas, and now the Wii U (if it ever ships to my house!) I don't really know much about the Wii U, so I joined here to try and get as much info as possible.

I am a sucker for sequels! I don't care how many Marios, Zeldas, Metroids, Castlevanias, etc there are, if there is one, I will get it!

Looking forward to the new Wii U, especially hopeful of a Zelda title somewhere down the line!!
