#224928 Super Luigi U $60 in Aus?

Posted by susanmary428 on 21 June 2013 - 05:31 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Wow!  I was going to say that sounds like the price of downloading the full NSMBU AND Luigi U together!  Crazy!

#224732 Luigi U Download from eShop

Posted by susanmary428 on 20 June 2013 - 03:12 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Press the home button and go to Download Manager and see if it's there

That's exactly where it was...I feel abundantly stupid.  LoL!  Thank you!

#224650 Luigi U Download from eShop

Posted by susanmary428 on 20 June 2013 - 01:19 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Okay, so this is the dumbest question you'll read all year, but this is my first download in the eShop.  I've purchased physical copies of all my other games so far.  I made the purchase of Luigi U and I have the NSMBU game inside the console.  After I made the purchase, I got a message that said the download would start automatically, but I don't see any indication that that happened.  Where will I see it?  I saw no progress bar or anything like I normally do when I'm running software updates.

Help?

Oh, LORD, nevermind!  I found the Download Manager section and saw the status of the download.  I'll leave this up in case there's someone out there who was as confused as me.  I doubt it.

#159812 Petition for Zelda MM remake on Wii U !

Posted by susanmary428 on 16 January 2013 - 06:44 AM in Wii U Games and Software

MM was a great game, but I don't want to see remakes of old games for the Wii U. This system needs new launches. For Virtual Console or a special edition 3DS release, sure.

#159810 3DS Data Transfer Question

Posted by susanmary428 on 16 January 2013 - 06:35 AM in The Café

Thanks for the replies, guys. I ended up ordering a card reader from Amazon and I should get it by Friday, so we'll see how it goes.

#159242 3DS Data Transfer Question

Posted by susanmary428 on 14 January 2013 - 12:56 PM in The Café

Yes, it seems like a pretty simple process IF I had an SD slot on my laptop. So in the absence of that, it sounds like I would need an SD card reader...

#159237 3DS Data Transfer Question

Posted by susanmary428 on 14 January 2013 - 12:40 PM in The Café

Sorry about posting this here, but the 3DS forums won't allow me to login to post. :(

I have gotten to love downloading games from the eShop rather than purchasing game cards at the store. Unfortunately, games like NSMB2 and Mario Kart 7 take up a TON of space, and I was on the original 2GB SD card.

I purchased an 8GB card, but I need some help transferring data from the old card to the new one. I saw Nintendo's support topic, but it seems to require a PC that has an SD card slot, and my laptop does not. Is there another way? Links are also welcome! And thank you!

#159235 Club Nintendo Rewards

Posted by susanmary428 on 14 January 2013 - 12:35 PM in The Café

I got the SNES controller for 7000 stars.
Worth it.
That's the only reward that's any way decent in the NoE club imo.
America gets stuff for free every year and still complain because they get less stuff but the stuff they get is cheaper.

Out of curiosity, what do we get for "free" that NoE members don't receive? Everything that I've ever received from NoA is a direct result of money that I've spent on consoles and games, so I wouldn't exactly call it "free".

#155931 Just sold my Wii U!

Posted by susanmary428 on 04 January 2013 - 07:03 AM in Wii U Hardware

Through 4 pages of this thread, I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you tried the console, weren't completely happy, and sold it. Although not something I would do myself, to each his/her own. Now that I see you've bought it again less than a month after you sold it, and with no other "AAA game" releases in the interim, I think you're just one of those people who can't make a decision and has money to throw around.

For the record, my personal opinion is that the Wii U is an excellent system and has great potential as bugs get worked out and more features are added. The game selection at launch is strong, and promises to get even better as Nintendo's legacy games start rolling out, and third party developers jump on board, as many already have. As another gamer and Nintendo fan for 25+ years, I consider myself an early adopter. That means having patience and being in it for the long haul. We are the ones that create the experience and bring others into the fold.

That said, I'm glad you realized what you were missing after it was gone, and came back for another try.

#155922 Club Nintendo Rewards

Posted by susanmary428 on 04 January 2013 - 06:09 AM in The Café

Wow! I don't know how many stars you get for each registration in the UK, but 4500 for a CD is completely ridiculous!! I have registered pretty much the same as you, UnchainedGoku, and that's what got me up to 825 coins. The most "expensive" reward here in the US is a Game & Watch handheld unit, which is about 1200 coins. The gold nunchuck, when it's available, is about 900 coins.

Posted by susanmary428 on 03 January 2013 - 04:39 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I would LOVE to see a Wii U LoZ that is more reminiscient of the original game, which I'm currently enjoying on my 3DS. I think the gamepad has the potential to play a significant role in an open world, top view game like that. Totally agree with all your points, Lupaie!

#155756 Nintendo TVii is up on the USA!

Posted by susanmary428 on 03 January 2013 - 04:30 PM in Wii U Hardware

I wish tagging was available on something other than sporting events. My TVii is working just fine, but there's no tagging available on any of my favorite shows, many of which are considered popular. Other than that and the as-yet-unavailable integration with Netflix, I can see some great potential in this service.

#155750 Club Nintendo Rewards

Posted by susanmary428 on 03 January 2013 - 04:20 PM in The Café

I'm in the US, so I assume my reward site layout is a bit different. But you're right, the current selection of rewards is awful. I like to get things that I can actually use; but I don't have any use for a bunch of cards showing the history of handhelds or a face cloth with goombas all over it. LoL

#155216 Is Nintendo's secrecy hurting them?

Posted by susanmary428 on 02 January 2013 - 09:39 AM in Wii U Hardware

I think Nintendo is doing what they have to do to protect their developments. I can't think of any company, especially in the tech realm, that wants to reveal too much about upcoming products too early. I have to say, I do wish there was more advertising for the Wii U. When the Wii was released, it seemed like commercials and ads were everywhere, and I just don't see that with this launch. It seems like the only information circulating is within the community of Nintendo fans, but the general public who already own a Wii aren't seeing the benefit of upgrading, IMO.

#155210 When do you think new colors will be realesed for the Wiiu?

Posted by susanmary428 on 02 January 2013 - 09:30 AM in Wii U Hardware

If the release of colored Wii consoles is any indication, it will be a while. White was the only color available for quite some time, until the black was an option. The other colors are special editions (red for Mario, for example). Having a variety of colors available for a console only REALLY makes sense in handheld form, as is the case for the 3DS, because it's portable and part of one's person, like an accessory. Consoles sit in your house, for the most part, and most people want them to be sleek and blend in with other electronics.

#155209 pro controller setup

Posted by susanmary428 on 02 January 2013 - 09:24 AM in Wii U Hardware Help

When you turn the system on the game pad will turn on automatically. Then hit the home button for the pro controller and it should default to the #2 spot assuming it has been synced up. I played NBA 2K13 with a friend and I was player 1 with the game pad and he was player 2 with the pro controller.

Thanks for clarifying!

#155205 Club Nintendo Rewards

Posted by susanmary428 on 02 January 2013 - 09:17 AM in The Café

I'm currently sitting on more than 800 coins in my Club Nintendo account, and I don't have any desire for any of the rewards being offered at the moment. I'm only mildly interested in the gold nunchuck, which isn't available right now anyway. I already have the Wii-mote holder, a gamecard holder w/ stylus', a pouch for my 3DS, a giant AR card and a tote bag which isn't offered anymore. Is there anywhere we can go to view information about what's in the works for upcoming rewards (like a rumor site or Nintendo fan page)? A Google search didn't reveal anything but Nintendo's own website, but I thought maybe someone here had some more knowledge.

#155201 animal crossing

Posted by susanmary428 on 02 January 2013 - 09:09 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Argh, I can't WAIT for AC on 3DS, it seems like it's taking an eternity. Based on that wait, I'm not holding my breath for the Wii U version anytime soon.

#155195 pro controller setup

Posted by susanmary428 on 02 January 2013 - 08:39 AM in Wii U Hardware Help

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can. The pro controller is meant to be a "replacement" for the gamepad, for those who prefer it. So, you would use either the gamepad OR the pro controller, together with traditional Wii-motes for multiplay.

#144733 Standby Mode?

Posted by susanmary428 on 06 December 2012 - 05:18 PM in Wii U Hardware

Back to topic, I do not believe the Wii U has a standby mode which is hugely disappointing. Had it done so surely they could have kept the notification functionality of Wii mode?
The only way I have seen the Wii U emit any kind of notifications is the home button the GamePad.
I'm hoping the Wii U is capable of standby mode after all and just not implemented in the current firmware, as its one function that set the Wii apart from other consoles and would be a shame to lose.

Thanks so much for this, you confirmed what I thought, and for the record, I agree.

#144189 Standby Mode?

Posted by susanmary428 on 05 December 2012 - 03:00 PM in Wii U Hardware

On my Wii, when not in use, my unit displays a yellow light indicating standby mode, and it receives messages over my WiFi connection, which I'm alerted to by the disc port glowing blue.

My Wii U, however, seems to just shut down with a red light. Does it have a standby mode similar to the Wii? And if so, how do you put it in that mode?

#144176 Slow loads not really

Posted by susanmary428 on 05 December 2012 - 02:37 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think that Nintendo can only improve if we, the users, are honest about the product. One for which we've all spent a great deal of money. Overall, and in the big picture, I am extremely happy with my Wii U. I have had great fun with it. Are the load times slow? Yes. To compare the load times on a 2012 console to ones that were in use 20 years ago is absurd. The technology should not be comparable. That said, I also don't think the argument that "PS3 does this" or "XBox does that" is fair either. Nintendo, like Apple, is trying to differentiate itself. But Nintendo, like Apple, unfortunately tends to have a fan-base who feels it can do no wrong sometimes. We are doing a disservice to the brand we love if we choose to downplay or overlook the negative, out of fear that others will look down on our choice. Nintendo is aware of the slow load times. They will fix it. We are the early adopters, the ones who purchased at launch or shortly thereafter. That means that there will be problems that people who purchase 6 months from now will not encounter.

#144169 Slow or Intermittent Internet the cause of Lockups?

Posted by susanmary428 on 05 December 2012 - 02:18 PM in Wii U Hardware

I'm knocking on wood, but I haven't had any issues with freezing or locking up, either before or after the update. I have Comcast Xfinity broadband service, which is usually pretty stable and strong. It's a WiFi connection, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you can connect the Wii U to wired internet. I could be wrong, it wasn't something I tried to do.

#144120 12-5-12 NoA/NoE Nintendo Direct Discussion topic

Posted by susanmary428 on 05 December 2012 - 12:32 PM in Wii U Hardware

Speaking for myself, I don't think I "hyped myself" into anything, and I'm certainly not losing sleep over the lack of an announcement concerning some solid gold Wii U or priceless game. But I don't think there's anything wrong with being disappointed in the lack of at least something INTERESTING being announced. Nintendo themselves hyped people into watching this announcement, through Twitter and Facebook and whatever other method they used. I think I even got an email from them about it. They said nothing that wasn't already known and gave no hard release dates for the games they DID mention. As I said, nothing that couldn't have been slapped on the Nintendo homepage without so much fanfare.

#144104 New Update right now?!

Posted by susanmary428 on 05 December 2012 - 11:55 AM in Wii U Hardware

Just got my Wii U today so downloading an update at the moment. Does anyone know if this will include today's update too or will that be a separate one after this one?

If you're connecting for the first time today, the update you receive should include the one released yesterday.
