#163603 Interesting new article on Wii U's RAM bandwidth

I think some of the posters in this thread are just throwing around technical terminology without fully understanding it.

#161177 21K systems sold last week - Nintendos Wii U problems turn into a crisis.

You're implying that I'm an idiot. I suggest you refrain from the insults and flaming.

Going back to the subject what's consoles got to do with it. Comparing them to PC's is just ridiculous and bares no logic. Consoles are a fixed entity for their lifetime and games are made to run on them. Developers are always pushing the capabilities of PC's by making their games take advantage of the latest technology. Plus its ridiculous to expect people to turn down the settings and make the gaming experience sub par and not what it should be. If PC gaming technology was static and didn't change so often then it wouldn't be an issue. You may be happy to turn down the settings and have a sub par gaming experience but not everyone is like you. Not to mention there is nothing stupid or idiotic in wanting the best performance as you so put it.

Lol. So if you're PC isn't capable of running games at high settings, there isn't any point. You should just not play at all.

#160851 21K systems sold last week - Nintendos Wii U problems turn into a crisis.

Remember kids. Whenever the Wii U sells 21K units in a week in Japan, it's a crisis that will never turn around. When the Vita sells under 10K units a week for many months in Japan, there's still time to turn it around.

All there is to do is wait for the games. I'm sure sales will pick up when it gets more of its announced games released.

The press for the Vita has been pretty negative actually. I'm not seeing a double standard.

#160734 Interesting new article on Wii U's RAM bandwidth

You've obviously never heard of bifarcated memory hierarchies, which require more complex architectures.

Unlikely. A memory heiarchy like the wii u's wont be necessary, because they will likely be using gddr4/5 that has a bandwidth much much higher than '2x wii u's main mem'.

Making the need for sophisticated memory heiarchies redundant.

They are going to get the most out of their memory bandwidth.

I was wondering when this was going to make its way down here. Took a lot longer than i thought.

assuming people are just referring to the main module hynix/samsung rams bandwidth because they dont pay attention to anything else...

That would be debilitating, crippling, unless they had a memory heiarchy as well done as wii u's.

One dev chose to remain anonymous, the others were named, like frozenbytes joel, wo said they had no bandwidth issues whatsoever despite using the far more demanding (including bandwidth) PC version of trine 2, instead of the watered down ps360 versions for wii u.

You guys may actually want to at least READ the article before committing to logical fallacies.

Everyone knows that the memory hierarchy is going to be at least as good if not better than the Wii U's.

just another thread that supports pure # =/= power and its too early to tell the wiiU true power.

I heard the next MS and Sony consoles will have double the RAM bandwith of the U.

#160189 Music in the background

Posted by RJMacReady on 17 January 2013 - 05:10 AM in Wii U Hardware

Wow that's lame, no music? I understand Nintendo's focus on games but atleast give the Wii U some other functions. >_>

It doesn't make much sense either, they way they are pushing it as kind of a media hub.

#160184 Every game should have a pro or classic controller option

Posted by RJMacReady on 17 January 2013 - 05:04 AM in Wii U Hardware

So having the OPTION of playing with normal controls in a 'limit'

Also don't care how much you like the stupid wii nunchuck, it's stupid to force people to play that way when they could have easily coded it a different controller.

Yes, it would limit what they could do. Anything that didn't translate to a pro controller would have to be left out.

#159711 Sure isn't attach-rate around here

Posted by RJMacReady on 15 January 2013 - 09:50 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Most of the games right now are available on other systems or PC for a lot less.

That would really limit what they could do.

#159017 Ancel says he hasn't hit any limitations with Wii U

Posted by RJMacReady on 13 January 2013 - 01:24 PM in Wii U Hardware

How do you figure that ? The limitations of consoles are never reached early in their life cycle. Considering the Wii U has only been out for two months its going to be quite a while before it's limitation is reached.

There is a limit to what they can currently do. What he said is that they aren't hitting any limitations, so obviously they aren't trying to get the most out of the system, is my point. Otherwise they'd be hitting those limits.

If he's' not hitting its limitations, they aren't doing it right!

#155839 Is Nintendo's secrecy hurting them?

Posted by RJMacReady on 03 January 2013 - 08:42 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think it might be. Some hype for upcoming Zelda and Metroid games might move some consoles.

#155838 Multiple devs question Wii U's future, if Nintendo should go third party

Posted by RJMacReady on 03 January 2013 - 08:41 PM in Wii U Hardware

This again? Tablets and phones are no substitute for sitting in front of your TV with a controller. Not to mention console gamers are bigger and better.

Who wants to play Mario or Zelda exlcusively on a tablet?

#154992 Wii U could more than double power consumption?

Posted by RJMacReady on 01 January 2013 - 04:44 PM in Wii U Hardware

Nintendo isn't holding back or hiding the power of the Wii U. Why would they do that? What would they gain by making people believe its less powerful than it really is?

I really don't know much about the length of the pipes inside the cpu or how many cycles it loses when there's an error. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. If the Wii U was really a beast that destroyed the X-Box 360 in processing power., it wouldn't be about on par with the PS3 and X-Box's graphics.

#154986 Just sold my Wii U!

Posted by RJMacReady on 01 January 2013 - 04:33 PM in Wii U Hardware

You missed Zombie U? How, what why? That's been one of the most hyped games for the system. One game was enough for you to buy the system again now? Why sell it in the first place if one game is enough to make it worth buying?
