Well this is a forum mostly full of Nintendo apologists. So...

TLOU is a great game, no doubt about that. In fact, it's the best Sony exclusive I've ever played. What I'm saying is that there are still lots of games better than it but TLOU just gets more limelight just like GTAV simply due to hype and because the dudebros want to find a game to rally behind. If anything, either Metro:Last Light, Brothers (this the most), 3D World or Rayman Legends should be GOTY but they aren't as "mature" enough for the dudebros aside from Last Light.

Dudebros bought into the hype so they can play CoD and BF on a "powerful" machine. Such hypocrisy. Most dudebros are just idiots who can't be bothered to play something more complex than just shooting and are currently bandwagoning on TLOU.

No, there is a lot of well done exploration. Its really the bulk of the game, exploring nd's set peices. Its what more or less seperates tlou from uncharted, similar to what seperates contra from metroid... albeit of a much lesser difference...

The combats not bad per se, its just incredibly streamlined the way all homogenous AAAAAAAA games are. Basically, on screen your dude is doing the most amazing things, but in the real world, you could be slapping your nuts across the buttons and get the same results. Going stealth is a lot more entertaining imo, but should you screw up, just pull out your nuts and slap the buttons and youll kill everything in cool cinematic ways... With your nuts.

Its much better than bad broken or boring combat, but also falls far short of the satisfaction of actually doing cool things yourself as opposed to pushing a for awesome.

You should see what I posted on my thread. I've got a guy that basically thinks that all retro-style games shouldn't be made anymore and that all games should be like TLOU and GTAV due to their "innovation".

And I have a Wii U and Xbox One and shall be getting the Xbox version. 3rd parties have shown they can't be arsed with Wii U so I'm done with them at this point.

3rd party games won't sell Wii U. Ubisoft would not kill years of development for new consoles to make a Wii U exclusive this close to launch. Ridiculous.

I have a Wii U and a PS4. No way in hell I am buying the Wii U version. Even though there is no possibility of what you want happening, I would skip watchdogs all together if it did.

Wii U is what it is. A machine intended to play Nintendo only games. I am actually very curious how the Wii U version sells. I am guessing not well.

Oh god, the hypocrisy. People want good ports. So dev tries porting. People don't buy. Devs don't dev. People won't buy systems. No buyers=no 3rd parties. 

If you truly want the Wii U to succeed at least just try buying Watch_Dogs and give 3rd Parties another chance guys. One party has to make the jump for everyone to succeed. Of course, I'm buying Watch_Dogs on WiiU then pirating it on PC since I don't want to pay for the same game twice.

The success of the Wii U depends on the mentality of the buyers. This stigma should really end. We were given the chance to prove to 3rd parties that they can succeed on a Ninty platform but we failed because people were too stuck in their ways. So basically, want the WiiU to succeed? Buy some damn games and shut the f up.

Also Am a nintendo freak i cant deny that Wii U is struggling specially since its not selling well, but we still have a hope; watchdogs  if nintendo payed for devs to make watchdogs a Wii U exclusive, We might still have a chance so hopefully if nintendo makes Wii u an exclusive they should :-

 

1. disable region lock

2.make a watch dogs bundle that does not cost more than 200-250

3. include cross game chat.

 

These might be enough for Wii U to sell especially that watchdogs is the most anticipated game of 2014.

In fact, half of your posts are fallacies. Piece of advice: Take some C++ lessons on the web before you go to college and some essay composition ones too. You can't be a designer let alone a designer if you don't familiarize yourself with how games work and the intricate web that we call "the video game industry". I'm just worried dude. WOW killzone looks absolutely AMAZING on the ps4...i thought battlefield looked good but man killzone just blows me away

Hey syks, have you seen Star Citizen yet? If you like sci-fi style games, you might like it.

They're practically using tablet CPUs (AMD's answer to the netbook/cellphone Atom but weaker and cheaper.) on the PS4 (2 Quad Core Modules).

Combined with the fact that it uses a stripped down Tahiti/Pitcairn XT GPU (modified and down-clocked to be used for an APU), the build I gave is a little bit higher in the PS4. The PS4 has unified memory and the walled garden specs will help optimization so all in all, they're more or less the same. The PC I linked will play games at settings a little bit higher than the PS4 for years to come. If the PS4 can't run a game on Ultra 6-7 years later, why should the PC? It's meant to be contemporary specced with the PS4 and Xbox One.

For Monitor, You can just use your TV or you can use the Vidiuu Streamer when it's finished.

For OS, Valve and the other software houses are already working on porting games to Linux and Steam OS. Metro Last Light now has a Linux version. So do most Valve and Id games. Mantle will also provide excellent support to Steam OS (Which is free)

Of course, like 3Dude said. exclusive games will always find a bypass to "surpass" the limitations of the system (More Pop-in, Heavy Scripting and Texture Streaming from Disk). However, Mantle will most likely bring the same optimization to PC's (AMD of course).

Let's be honest. That system is not going to play the newest games in seven years at 60 fps. Consoles are great because games are developed FOR them. Battlefield 8 will run on a PS4 as well as Battlefield 4 (if it ran well lol) does. Yeah, the graphics will be toned down compared to the newest PC then, but my PC won't be able to run it smoothly on any settings because it won't be developed for older PC's.

Of course it won't at max. The PS4 won't either. The term "optimization" as most console users use it is getting more and more voided due to all of them sharing x86-x64. Combined with Mantle, this generation is probably going to have equal performance from all platforms at the same price point. A PC from 2006 can run games that are also on PS3 albeit at medium-low settings just like it's console contemporaries who run at an optimized low equivalent

The AMD A10-6700 Richland is the apu both ps4 and xbone were based on, they are simply tweaked customized versions of that apu... I remember early dev kits actually using that apu. In fact, if you compare the dieshot of the apu on the link you provided, its near identical to the die shot of the ps4/xbone:

The biggest change is they swapped out the 3-4Ghz piledriver desktop cpu cores, with the jaguar 1.6-8 Ghz Jaguar mobile phone/tablet cpu.

Even so, the ps4/xbone are closed systems, that gives them the potential, with exclusive games, to do things seemingly beyond their reach.

The Richland APU's aren't exactly know for their power. Swapping them out for Jaguar only makes it worse. I do however, acknowledge the fact that "optimization works great on closed platforms.

An HTPC would actually be cheaper than an XBone in general, A W Reezy.  

Meh. Sticking to my WiiU and PC. Not exactly a fan of any of Sony's and MS' exclusives. Aside from KH3, MGSV and FF15, I don't think I have a reason to get "next gen".

Overall, I just don't see the other consoles as a worthy investment when I can get a PC that I can use to do Photoshop, Visual Studio, Vegas and of course, gaming at a competitive price point near them. 

In fact, you could get a PC that beats "next-gen" at around $500. Combined with the savings that you get with Steam Sales (Autumn, Summer and Winter), the price in the long run will be considerably cheaper. Just $13 dollars above the entry barrier of the Xbox One can you get a PC functions more than just gaming (CodeBlocks, Blender, Maya, Unity, Photoshop, Premier, CAD, etc.), net you a lot in savings (Humble Bundles, Green Man Gaming and Steam Sales) and last you through for quite some time. Building a PC is just like building LEGO's. In fact, even a 14 year old could put one together from scratch.

The "Hardcore Gamers" let Nintendo down when they needed just as predicted by NoA's former Marketing Manager during the GameCube era. Just like the GC, "hardcore" gamers failed when N needed them the most so they're now shifting back to the Wii strategy. If the "hardcore gamers" quit talking crap and actually bought Nintendo's effort to follow their "dreams" then the Wii U would probably have more of their "hardcore" stuff.

If you're in the US you can do design and programming at the same time in collEge.
I'd take programming first and game design second semester if I were you, as they might require you have some basic programming knowledge if it's called "game" design.
I dunno though, I didn't have any game design or programming options until my last year and decided it'd be a pain in the ass because the professor in charge of it was horrible at teaching.
