#251245 Dream Game: Nintendo Universe

Posted by gronik on 13 October 2013 - 12:22 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I predicted a super mario universe but never thought of typing it up because when you type up a story for a game you came up with it sounds like a five year olds imagination lol, I like the idea, it's just nintendo will never make it.

Tbh, a five year olds imagination can be pretty broad. Plus story in Nintendo games always seems a bit like a side note. It always pulls the various elements of the game together, but really thats all it does do. Thats why the story is more often than not ambigous and left to interpretation.

I really like this idea!

I picture it more how the next 3d mario game should be (after super mario 3d land);
however with all the added content from those other nintendo franchises would be the ultimate fan service.
Almost an apology for the slow release of games at the start of the consoles life.

Speaking in terms of the scale and time frame for developement of this game:

I think this would have to be a collective effort from all of nintendos ,major studios as well as some investment in a new studio to handle the base of the game. This would need a huge budget to succeed in sales and expectations.

The time it would make to build a game of this granduer could possibly come towards the latter half of the wii u's life cycle. Probably after every major title mentioned by the OP has been released on the wii u in some form.
It would also take a while to build the hype train up for a game like this.

#216077 Nintendo should have their IP on every platform

It would be cool if Nintendo made a smartphone to appeal to people who play smartphone games. You could even have Virtual Console and Miiverse.

But they should only do this if handheld gaming ever died out. I would rather have a handheld games console than a smartphone.

Or better yet, just include the functions of a phone into the next 3DS revision.
That way Nintendo wouldn't need to try directly competing with the phone market (as it would be a secondary feature to gaming) meaning that we wouldn't get a new "nintendophone" every year with just a slight upgrade; but the handhelds would gain access to phone based internet access!

Maybe this new deal with O2 is foreshadowing...

:D

May the dream live on!

Speaking of living on, it would probably be a good idea to install a new fan in mine sooner rather than later :L Sort out that darn overheating problem

#216019 Nintendo MiiTown (3ds & WiiU)

Posted by gronik on 05 June 2013 - 09:06 AM in Wii U Games and Software

that would be really cool. minute features of your idea were done in 3ds via mii plaza and street pass where you meet other mii's that you come in contact with, they can help in the game find mii etc... although this is all a smaller scale. I love the idea though

Yeah & if you could take your mii's clothes you earn in the 3ds version to the big Mii Verse world version that would be cool :P

If you want to play Nintendo games, buy a Nintendo system. Same with Sony and Microsoft.

Exactly!

It is an all around win for the consumers experience at the end of the day; when a developer can concentrate their efforts on developing on a single platform.

#215995 Summer Update!

Posted by gronik on 05 June 2013 - 08:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

An achievement/trophy/accomplishment system similar to those on Xbox Live and Steam. Cross-game chat would also be really cool.

tommorow? did i miss something?

They could do it like the puzzle game on the 3DS or Find Mii, instead of getting coins from walking or pieces from spot pass, your achievements equal currency for games like that.

Or

better yet, achievements translate into club nintendo coins. Every x amount of points becomes x club coins. However, i feel club nintendo would need to offer more prizes on their site.

Had exactly the same idea!
And they really do need to offer more prizes on their sites, the UK club Nintendo really doesn't compare to the American Club Nintendo; and even that is pretty lack luster.
Still, the fact that they offer any rewards for buying Nintendo licensed games is a pretty good deal in itself; tying achievements to that seems like a natural progression for the system.

My wants for the summer update:

* Better in game loading times
* Cross game chat with more than one person
* MiiVerse drawing with layers, colours and transparency control.
* Media Player App (Mp3's, Mp4's & jpegs)
* MiiVerse social drawing (where people can draw on the same post at the same time)
* Some sort of free mini game which links up to the 3DS free mini games

#215027 Wii U gamepad on Wii Games

You guys need to power through the poor quality graphics and poor controls to get to the final boss. It's one of my favourite Zelda boss battles, especially the sword fight with ganondorf.

I've never been too fussed about the graphics; I always thought they were great! But that’s because I've largely stuck to playing it on my Wii which is hooked up to a nice old 30" SD TV.
I just don't want to have finished the game before I have skyward sword to move on to :L

I think they should allow us to use Wii U pro controller with Wii games

I hadn’t really considered that, but That would be a great bonus use of that controller! :P

#215024 Ahoy there fellow gamers! A fair turn to you all!

Posted by gronik on 03 June 2013 - 06:51 AM in Introduction Central

I know who Link is. I'm pretty sure he has no Midi-chlorians therefore he can not possibly be in tune with the force.

Touché sir!

That last part made no sense. May the link be with you? What's that supposed to mean? Is it because he has a sword? That's terrible! You're...terrible!  Welcome to the website and what-not. I hope you have fun going comment crazy.

...

..

.

I was just doing a Zelda inspired twist on the popular Star Wars quote, "May the force be with you."
Link being the name of the players character in Zelda because he is the Link between the Game and the player. Which if you think about Zelda always being a quest for gaining the Triforce and saving the land/Princess etc, then Link would presumably carry alot of force with him.
I can see how it makes no sense with out any context but I just presumed people on a Nintendo themed gaming forum would get the link. Sorry for the pun.

But thanks for making me feel welcome!

#214734 Wii U gamepad on Wii Games

I still haven't finished it, actually :-/  I'm a bit embarrassed to say so but, to be honest, those two issues were just too much for me (the blurry graphics more than the waggle - my eyes hurt when I play!!).

Ahaha no need to be embarrassed, I havn't completed it either! Right near the end of the game too :L had the game since launch of the Wii aswell.
But that's because I've been waiting to buy Skyward sword so I can just move on as soon as its done.

#214717 Wii mode upscaling

Posted by gronik on 02 June 2013 - 11:21 AM in Wii U Hardware

Geez-oh!

I've not tried any of my Wii games on the Wii U. How does Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario look on the Wii U?

I've tried Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy & The legend of Zelda Twilight Princess on a 50" plasma (I've read mixed reports on whether this effects image quality or not, also bearing in mind that its a 50" viewed from relatively close distance).

Wii Sports looks more or less unaffected, but I think that this has more to do with the simplicity and lack of massive amounts of small details.

Super Mario Galaxy looks pretty decent, really the rough edges only become apparent when you stop and stand still.

The legend of Zelda Twilight princess is playable, but TBH I'd go for an SD TV play through since it does loose some of its original awe on an HD screen ( or at least it seems).

However I can't confirm whether this is the same post update since I haven’t played any Wii games on my wii u in over two months! :P

#214622 Wii U gamepad on Wii Games

Posted by gronik on 02 June 2013 - 08:05 AM in Wii U Hardware

Sorry, but I don't like that idea. Many people would refuse to pay a Wii game they already own. Well that's what I think. I dunno.

I'm not saying anyone would like it, but it is what Nintendo has done in the past.
During the Wii's life we had a handful of titles from the Gamecube which were made to be played with motion controls, the new play control! series, with games such as Mario Power Tennis.

But your right many people wouldn't want to pay for games they already own, but hey I don't own Xenoblades yet so I really wouldn't mind that being rereleased on the Wii U Eshop for instance. But if they were released as Eshop titles and didn't hamper the development of new games, who'd be complaining? :P

This is what I want and I really hope Nintendo starts doing it soon (as long as it doesn't interfere with the production of new titles). Who wouldn't want Metroid Prime HD Trilogy, Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword HD double pack, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 HD double pack etc.? Or even just sold separately as eShop titles? The Wii had some of the best Nintendo games ever made and there are definitely some I would rebuy so I could play them in HD and on the gamepad.

Indeed!

That parts pretty easy to get around, particularly since the game pad has motion plus (mems accelerometers and gyroscopes). All the wii u would have to do is send fake initialization reports to trick the game into thinking its a wiimote/nunchuck or classic controller etc. of course swinging the gamepad likely wouldnt be ideal, and there is no pointer, nor seperate nunchuck motion.... But it would work for many, many games, as the vast majority of games these past 7 years spectacularly failed to capitalze on full motion potential. Theres red steel 2, and skyward sword, and thats about it.

But you can still use the wiimotes with wii u, the gamead would just be a screen and sensor bar. It would still allow you to play without taking up the tv.

The real problem is that wii games are incompatable with wii u architecture. They can only run when the machine converts itself into wii mode, and wii mode cant use game pads. Nintendo would have to find a way to run wii games in wii u mode for this to be possible.

I have to agree.

I also have this feeling that Nintendo would probably see more profit in just rereleasing a handful of wii games which would work well on the gamepad with an HD update (Not a wind waker scale HD update but a Monster Hunter 3 style one).
Through the eshop. Titles such as Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda Twillight Princess, Metroid Prime 3 etc.

I wouldn't want that...because it would be odd pointing a wii remote at the gamepad. Unless you meant changing the controls for the gamepad?

Either option would be more than acceptable,I certainly wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth! :L

You'd point the Wii remote at the sensor bar, not the Gamepad.

Doesn't the Gamepad's front facing camera double as a sensor bar?

#214554 Is the wii u THAT underpowered?

Posted by gronik on 02 June 2013 - 04:52 AM in Wii U Hardware

mips and dmips are not the same thing. Stop posting your nonsense. posting a picture of cell and then making up njmbers proves.nothing.

I posted the actual ibm documentation.of.cell, with its actual performan e metrics, and it says you are a moron.

You are wrong, you have provided nothing to support your blathering while i have the guide to cell in my hands.

Oh, your idiotic made up dhrystones figures for xbone/ps4 are 5x higher than an actual kibini jaguar core*8 @2.0Ghz.

I really can't see the logic in discussing performance of consoles at the beginning of their life’s, I mean PS4 and Xbox One haven’t even been officially released yet!
I think I remember when Sony originally unleashed details on the PS3 stating all kinds of numbers which didn't quite make it to release.

But; what did we get from the last generation of consoles?
Did we get a bunch of only rubbish games and wasted memories? Pfft only if you looked for them!
Ps3, Xbox 360 and Wii all had games which proved their respective worth.
They all had games which stood out and showed that the consoles could perform above our expectations (or at least mine!)
There is no doubt in my mind that the Wii U, Ps4 and Xbox One will all deliver unique content which proves that they perform well at what they do.

Pc performance will always be potentially higher than consoles, but there is no guarantee that your machine will perform above your expectation, you know what you’re getting into and it will probably only ever preform to your expectations or eventually worse as your hardware becomes less main stream and developers begin to code on newer hardware.

#214532 To Everyone Asking for Nintendo's E3 Demos To Be on eShop

Posted by gronik on 02 June 2013 - 02:32 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think the real issue here is that I can't recall Nintendo really ever giving finished demo's of their triple A titles like Mario and Zelda.
Your more likely to be given a bonus game or a free piece of software than a demo...
Which tbh I'm all right with just seeing videos till I buy the games and play them myself!

#214531 Ps4 or Wii U

Posted by gronik on 02 June 2013 - 02:19 AM in Wii U Hardware

Considering you sold your wii u to pay for bills, you might be better off taking a little gaming break.
However, if theres a game you really want to play, go for it! :P

#214404 How will you feel if the PS4 and NEXTBOX launch price is similar to the WII U?

Posted by gronik on 01 June 2013 - 04:31 PM in Wii U Hardware

Right I must say this pretty much sums up how I feel about this myself:

[1] My plan for this launch? Enjoy the Wii U. Let the PS4 earn my business, and make sure I buy it when I can walk into the store and easily buy one. There is nothing worse than having two launch consoles (I did this with Wii and PS3) and not being able to really fully enjoy either one.

[2] If your an early adopter, you knew that the probability of first party delays was great, and you also knew you could get third party titles elsewhere. You also paid the price of entry. So, I do not see what there is to be upset about.

[3] I should disclose that I am not really interested in the PS4 now, but when Uncharted comes out, the wife will make me buy one and play through it so she can watch it. Of course, she was like this with the Wii U and Metroid/Mario. Could be much worse, lol.

[1] I think this is an important thing to really factor in when buying any console at launch. It is always a rocky road through the first year to some level, you need to be able to enjoy what the system offers in the long run, in the wii u’s case it is a truck load of potentially legendary games!

[2] Exactly!
The only reason I really brought a Wii U at launch, what really sold me was that Tekken tag tournament 2 was a launch title. I am a complete Tekken fan and this has been the one title which has sold me on getting any system other than obvious gaming curiosity.
But I know I’m one of a few people who really appreciates the effort Nintendo has taken to get support from Namco.
It is the first full Tekken on a Nintendo home console and quite frankly it is the definitive version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Even if you take away all of the “bonus” content, the fact that you can now play Tekken with Nintendo's legendary D-Pad makes the game feel silky smooth!

[3] Alas this is true. It would be silly to close your self off into one corner of the gaming sphere for the next ten years because you’d miss out on soo many interesting experiences.
Which you wouldn’t even really be able to comment on because you’d lack any experience with them to have an opinion good or bad.
For me it would be Tekken 7. I’d like to think Namco may stay good to Nintendo and continue to support them with the next big Tekken game, however this is an ever changing industry and only time will tell.

And now I think it’s time to check the weather on Miiverse…
