#286985 Spectator Mode - Mario kart 8 - Suggestion

Posted by chunter on 28 May 2014 - 07:13 PM in Wii U Games and Software

My older brother falls into this category.  Alot of people fall into this category.  We get excited for new games, and we love to see them in action, but alot of times we don't like to play.  We just want to spectate.

Here's how spectator mode would work in Mario Kart 8.

A couple people grab some wii motes and nunchucks to play mario kart 8 and do some battling or racing.  The spectator grabs the tablet.  He gets to press a button and select someone to watch as they race.  He can move the tablet around the player (similar to the way the zelda in nintendo land uses the tablet) to see all around the player that is racing.  He can push a button again to switch to another player and spectate that person.

This would actually really get the spectator immersed in the game without having to actually play.  And give the spectator a chance to enjoy the beautiful graphics and look at all the small details around the course instead of having to concentrate on the race.

#271527 Plex for Wii U (ditch your cable)

Posted by chunter on 10 February 2014 - 11:14 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Ok...I'm a picky pirate with a laptop hooked up to my tv, but I'm convinced now that plex on the wii u could be the best way.
But they need to fix one thing, scrolling.  The left analog stick doesn't scroll plex.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't believe Microsoft or Playstation have ever made money from the gaming business.

they just make games and game machines to be nice.

#270344 What do you use to play mkv files on Wii U?

Posted by chunter on 03 February 2014 - 05:51 PM in Wii U Games and Software

If you ant flash support, use a horsing PC.
If you want to support piracy-ridden assholes who can't get with the times and switch to HTML5, Wii off back to Mexico.

I said Mexico because I assume you're American, and calling you Mexicans seems to insult you.
Nothing against Mexicans personally, they're fine.

I just want a device that surfs the internet easily...and can goto websites and play their video easily.

perhaps they can do an update that can add this functionality.

#270145 One Game, Could Change Everything

Posted by chunter on 02 February 2014 - 08:06 PM in Wii U Games and Software

agreed....

one awesome game.....

Nintendo Land revolutioned the way you use the gamepad with the zelda game mode.  Moving the gamepad around and feeling like you are in a virtual reality enviroment is amazing and amazes everyone I show.

Nintendo needs to keep doing that, and perhaps look for even more ways to revolutionize it.  But keep local multiplayer.

so, 2 things:

1. must have local multiplayer (that's why people buy nintendo)....

2.  use gamepad in amazing ways like nintendo land did in zelda mode....do more of that

I remember a long time ago....i went to davids and busters as a kid.  in the 90's.  they had a virtual reality machine....several....multiplayer....with the helmet, the whole deal....the game was so so, and the graphics were ok....but the feeling was incredible...i spent alot of time just looking down at myself and up in the air....just to see what would happen....it was the first time I felt totally immersed in a game....

I had that same feeling with nintendo land in zelda mode.

so THAT might be part of the reason we haven't seem a proper new Tecmo Bowl Football game!

Can any other game company list names of NFL players in their games?  Or does EA have a monopoly on using the NFL license?

IP laws strike again...

No, flash is dead.

Crackle....how do you get crackle to work on Wii U?  Or is it impossible?

Also, does Twit.tv work on Wii U.....I haven't tried it yet.

#269411 Help with Game Recommendation and Best Gun For Wii/Wii U

Posted by chunter on 29 January 2014 - 07:32 PM in Wii U Games and Software

sports resort is better.
Be aware the game requires the motion plus add-on or the wii-motion plus wii-mote.

House of the dead is a good on-rails shooter.

i just ordered 4 refurbished wii remote pluses w/nunchucks.  Ok....I was leaning to sports resort myself.

What about sports club for wii U?  Do you think its as good as sports resort?

#269410 What's the Deal with the Mii's in Super Mario World 3D?

Posted by chunter on 29 January 2014 - 07:30 PM in Wii U Games and Software

They are Ghost Mii data from other people of the internet.
It's Nintendo's cloud ghost idea that microsoft thought was super-awesome enough to talk about when revealing their console.
Nintendo did it quietly, and to absolutely no fan-fare.

so, that was once the moves someone else did?

but they also seem to help you out at the right time...it seems it would need to be more than just old data...it needs to interact with what you are doing?

#269409 Miyamoto is a f******* moron

Posted by chunter on 29 January 2014 - 07:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software

He's right it's not. It's their poor marketing.

nintendo just needs to keep finding new ways to use the gamepad....and keep expanding on the awesome ways they already use it (like zelda mode in nintendo land)...

there must have been a reason the head designer wanted a gamepad...now he must continue to shine and show us the great ways it can change gaming...

#269386 What's the Deal with the Mii's in Super Mario World 3D?

Posted by chunter on 29 January 2014 - 05:57 PM in Wii U Games and Software

The ones in the levels, they run around and stuff.  Are they computer controlled?  Are they someone's real Mii?  Does the computer just do that randomly?  Can you make your Mii run around in the levels?  What is that all about?  They seem to help you out sometimes.  How do I do that?

#269383 Help with Game Recommendation and Best Gun For Wii/Wii U

Posted by chunter on 29 January 2014 - 05:49 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I need some help with a game reccomendation.

How do Wii games look on the Wii U?  Exactly the same?  I was looking at Wii Play or Wii Sports resort.  Which one is better?

Also, I'm looking for a duckhunt type game, but not the cabela's hunting games...if Nintendo doesn't have a duck hunt game, is there anything close to it?  Perhaps something similar to police trainer?  What about the Zelda shooting game...Link Crossbow training (can you buy it sperate used)?  That looks pretty good.  Is that a fun one, for someone looking for a shooting type game like duckhunt?

Also, what is the best gun for the Wii/Wii U?  I assume you just use the wii remote plus and hook up some sort of gun thing?  Is there anything better than nintendo's own zapper?

Thanks

#269374 Nintendo Land Vs Super Mario 3D World

Posted by chunter on 29 January 2014 - 04:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Since Nintendo Land is only 30 bucks at Walmart I might give it a try. I got 3D World at launch and I LOVE IT

buy nintendo land used....I got mine at gamestop for 15 bucks....buy it from ebay....

I know mario 3d world and nintendo land are different...i'm just comparing them because those are the only 2 games I have for the nintendo wii u.  I'm comparing how much fun I have with my kids playing them.  for me, nintendo, zelda mode is amazing.....i know...it won't last as long...there are only 7 or 10 or so levels, but still....I'll be showing other family members this.  the replay on nintendo land seems really awesome.

NintendoLand has its virtues, but also its disappointments.  I didn't like how some games required more than one person.  Octopus Dance was pretty lame.  But as you mentioned, Zelda, Metroid and the ninja game make it worthwhile, as did the racing game, donkey kong crash or whatever and the Ninja game.

I'd give it an 8.5 out of ten.  It's worth picking up for $30 for sure.

Super Mario 3d World- it has been one of the best games I've ever played.  I'd give it a 9.8.  Only issue is that the depth perception can be off a little.

I guess, I am looking for multiplayer games...that's why I got the wii u....so my kids and i could play together.

the thing with mario world 3d....it doesn't feel as "wonderous" as mario 64....where you could really take your time and explore.  And 3d is a little difficult sometimes with mario...some of the jumps and running at times can be a little too difficult.  It is fun though.  It just didnd't have the wow factor that nintendo land had.    It seems more like a last gen console game....

#269175 Nintendo Land Vs Super Mario 3D World

Posted by chunter on 28 January 2014 - 06:05 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I just bought Super Mario 3D World yesterday.  It's good, but I can't believe I like Nintendo Land better.  With all the hype Mario 3D world is getting, I figured that would be my favorite game, but I don't think it is.  The way you use the gamepad in the zelda mode in nintendo land is pretty amazing, and this is coming from a guy who normally likes PC fps games.

Mario 3D world has more levels and stuff, but as far as the fun factor...walking around with that gamepad and shooting the arrows, while my little boys are fighting with swords is and was pretty darn amazing.

Was anyone else blown away by Nintendo Land?

#269141 Nintendo Will Not Sell Nintendo Games on Other Platforms

Posted by chunter on 28 January 2014 - 03:32 PM in Wii U Hardware

As soon as Nintendo starts releasing their games on other platforms is the day that Nintendo becomes just another SEGA, an irrelevant relic in an ever-changing industry.

Nintendo needs to keep what makes them special and work on ironing out their flaws. They need a CEO who knows what makes Nintendo special, but also knows how to keep Nintendo modern, contemporary, relevant and more importantly competitive.

As great as Mario, Zelda, Yoshi and Kirby are, Nintendo need fresh faces, new IP's. What makes Sony an attractive company for gamers is that they are committed to constantly making new first party games for their consoles.

Give it a few years and smartphones and tablets will have the same specifications as most standard laptops.

the new 192 core nvidia will be available to cellphones....all cellphones and small devices will then have alot of graphics power.

no, flash is dead.
I used vidiiu for a while, but the developer quit for now, so it's nowhere near polished enough to use.

well, many sites like crackle still use flash.  And crackle has jerry seinfeld's new show on it.  Anyone know how to get flash working on the wii u?  Or how to get crackle working?

What?
How does Halo get away with being $60 then?

because halo is a badass game as well.

what do you use to play mkv files on your Wii U?  I see plex and vidiiU.  Also, can the Wii U install flash?  It plays ign videos and tekzilla videos from their website perfectly, but crackle doesn't work.

#269043 Nintendo Will Not Sell Nintendo Games on Other Platforms

Posted by chunter on 28 January 2014 - 09:20 AM in Wii U Hardware

Here's why I think Nintendo will not sell nintendo games on other platforms:

1. selling nintendo games on other platforms, basically nullifies the Wii U and 3DS.  Why buy nintendo consoles if you can play them on other consoles...including other consoles you probably own

2. it will lower the value of nintendo games.  Nintendo can charge $60 a game (crazy price), because you can only play it on a nintendo.  If they release nintendo games everywhere, the value drops as supply increases.  Why spend 60 bucks on a nintendo game if you have some other amazing choices, like halo, etc?  On the Wii U, you pretty much only have nintendo games as amazing choices...

3.  Nintendo isn't about to lose all the money drained into the Wii u and all the upcoming games for it.  Nintendo seems to have alot invested in the Wii U, from the console itself to the games.  Why throw all that money away

4. Nintendo games are fun because they usually involve a new type of controller.   Part of what makes nintendo games special are the new ways you play them...involving new controllers.  Other consoles are not as innovative, they use tried and true controllers (part of those old tried and true controllers were invented by Nintendo).  Nintendo invents new ways to play games...as such, they need to invent new hardware.  I just bought Mario World 3D last night and played it with my kids.  Its a great game, but I still have a better time playing Nintendo land (zelda mode, etc).  The way they use the gamepad in Nintendo Land is amazing.

#269041 Get em while they're cheap...wii remote plus and nunchuck deal!

Posted by chunter on 28 January 2014 - 09:08 AM in Wii U Hardware

Ordered 4 about 5 days ago....they till haven't shipped, but for that price, who cares.  20 bucks for something everyone else is selling for 60....crazy deal.

#268700 Madden 20xx VS Tecmo Super Bowl 3

Posted by chunter on 26 January 2014 - 07:03 AM in General Gaming

For me, there is no greater football game than Tecmo Super Bowl 3.  Some of the players might have been exaggerated, but it was fun.  I loved having players outshine others.  And being able to pull off great plays with the greats.  With the Madden 20xx games, all the players seem to handle the same.  Somewhere in their "realism" the fun factor has been lost.

Anyone agree?

People still release Tecmo Super Bowl 3 every year with new rosters.  But I am hoping that one day, a company rerelases a Tecmo Super Bowl style game with updated graphics.  Side to side would be perfectly fine.  No need to mess with a winning formula.

#268699 Can you Transfer Wii->Wii U Using Hard Drive?

Posted by chunter on 26 January 2014 - 06:57 AM in Wii U Games and Software

So, you cannot transfer from the Wii to Wii U because the Wii doesn't allow hard drive hookup?

Thanks
