#316670 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD (Review) | ZyroXZ2

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 01 March 2016 - 11:53 AM in The Museum

I admit it, I automatically gravitated towards Laura. I... I think I might have a problem... ._.

***AUTO-MERGED: 3/1/15***

I agree: the next main Zelda game just can't come soon enough! But with a tendency for delays, perhaps something to chew on might help ease the anxiety... And what better than an HD version of Twilight Princess!

And finally, this will be the last update provided to this thread.  Those of you who found me through this forum: I want to thank you for having the courage to check out "just another" YouTube channel being posted by a forum member!  I get that these things can be hard to trust, so those of you that had the fearlessness to watch my videos: I thank you kindly!

Some of you are on my social media and already know why I won't be updating forum threads anymore.  For the rest of you: the channel will be shutting down at the end of June 2016.  And for the losers that I easily tracked to individual forums that only dislike my videos when I post them: you finally got your win, and I hope it makes your day better!  Yes, I've known who you are for awhile now! :D

Farewell everyone, and best of joy with your games, not your systems!

#316965 Xbox One Lunar White Controller (Review) | ZyroXZ2

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 29 September 2015 - 07:45 PM in General Gaming

Just got both- got Rare Replay for $20 and $10 off of Forza.... Haven't played either b/c of that Mario game and..... embarrassed to say Skylanders.

Don't be embarrassed... That is, unless you're not playing it on the Wii U along with the custom Bowser and DK Skylanders amiibo...  :P

***AUTO-MERGED***

Looks like it's just an extra snazzy white and gold controller right?  The thing is, there are a couple of differences that might just make this controller worth the extra $5!

That's a lotta old and new games for $30... But how many of the games should you be interested in for it to be worth it?  I'd say 1/3 of them is enough, and even then... it honestly makes Nintendo look pretty greedy considering the pricing scheme of the Virtual Console!

***AUTO-MERGED: Forza Motorsport 6 Review!***

There's just something about powerful, nimble cars that brings out the absolutely garbage Brit in me.  I'm not Jeremy Clarkson, and this isn't Top Gear, but it IS Forza Motorsport 6!

#316672 The Wii U "Five" Smash Bros Tournament!

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 20 August 2015 - 11:12 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I think the title says all it needs to say!  AND, it has PRIZES! :D

1st place: $20 eShop code
2nd place: $10 eShop code
3rd place: $10 eShop code

Good luck if you join, full details in the video below!

Note that the codes I buy are restricted to NA systems, and there's nothing I can do about that regional stuff!  If you own a NA Wii U/3DS but are outside the US, you just need to create a US-based account to redeem it!

Here's the tournament ID and password:

I'm not really into this whole remake/port situation, but then again, the Wii U admittedly isn't exactly bursting at the seams with games to play!  So I took the dive and gave this PS2 port a shot!  Does it stand the test of time?

***AUTO-MERGED: 8/13/15: Donkey Kong Country 2 Review!***

Rare Replay is awesome, there's no doubt about it.  But it doesn't have ALL of Rare's best gems, and it CAN'T.  Microsoft may have bought Rare, but without the rights to Donkey Kong, there's a series that ranks up there with Rare's best work.  This one!

#315678 I FINALLY GOT ONE!

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 01 July 2015 - 06:18 PM in General Gaming

Nice, I already added you on xbone so its your turn to add me on ps4!

I went back and forth on the controllers and what I liked more but I find xbone pad too cramped and going back from ds4's amazing sticks Xbone felt too loose and not an all rounder controller IMO. Great for fps though.

Interesting, I definitely prefer the Xbox One controller for FPS games.  So far, I'm also feeling that the pull on the DS4 is too short to be effective at throttle control compared to the Xbox One, and given that the Xbox One controller's triggers rumble to give you feedback on wheel lock up or losing traction, I think the DS4 might also fall short in that department, too...

And nah... YOU add ME!  :P

Good luck handling all three consoles on your channel! :D

I'll be fine, if you really look at the lineups, the three systems don't actually coincide with their big releases, so there will be a shift of focus from system to system rather than having to pack a ton of things in at once... At least... for 2015 so far, lol

#315666 I FINALLY GOT ONE!

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 01 July 2015 - 11:11 AM in General Gaming

Yes, really this time... :D

I got myself the Batman Limited Edition PS4, and I know I paid $50 for a dark silver paint job, but I DO like Batman, so other than swapping out the faceplate with a friend to complete its Batman-ization, it's a nice touch.  It doesn't match the rest of my systems, and I actually WANTED white, but it was too early to get one at the time since it was a Destiny bundle, and I already had Destiny on the Xbox One.

Why_Not_All_Three.jpg

While my review of Arkham Knight doesn't post until next week, I will say that it's been a great game!  It's a great game to have bundled with the system, to be honest, and I feel like Microsoft missed out on nabbing marketing rights to an Arkham Knight Xbox One bundle!  But moving on about the system...

Battery life on the DS4 controller is BAD.  I'm getting 7 hours approximately per full charge.  My Wii U Gamepad, though it has an extended battery pack inside, gets 10.5 hours (not to mention the Pro controller gets a whopping 75 hours for me!).  My Xbox One controller gets 25 hours off the official battery pack, and that includes headset use (20 hours on AAs)!  While someone might say, "but 7 hours is enough for a gaming session!", the issue is that if you DON'T charge it from the last time you played, it may just end up dying on you this time, and instead of being able to charge it with a nice long cable, the cable is too short unless you sit close to a smaller TV!  Ugh, I didn't expect the controller battery life to be THIS bad!  "Buy a second controller!" is NOT a proper solution here to battery life!  I even turned off the speaker and dimmed the tracker light (which still has NO way to be turned off, ugh...).

In terms of performance, it's definitely the quietest at idle, but the loudest of the three at full throttle.  The Xbox One and Wii U run their fans at 100% at all times, and while the PS4 enjoys near-perfect silence at idle loads, it's definitely noticeable at medium game volumes even with my mini home theatre setup.  I've got several exclusives I bought on clearance supposedly arriving at my door tomorrow, so we'll have to see what kind of overall game experiences I get and how well the controller performs over lots of various uses (FPS, racing, adventure, etc.).  Since I've only used it for Arkham Knight, my synopsis of the controller has not reached a final consensus.  It's the LEAST comfortable of the 3 controllers (hence why I got the Xbox One first), and has the LEAST battery life, but I will say that it is MILES above the DS3!  As a PS2 and PS3 past owner, the DS2 and DS3 were both awful, and no matter how many hundreds of hours of play and getting comfortable with them, the DS3 was such a disappointment being essentially an updated DS2.  Now I understand why Sony fans think the DS4 is the best controller in the world: if you came from a DS3, it is some sort of ergonomic MIRACLE! Hahaha xD

TL;DR - Got a shiny limited Batman Edition, DS4 battery life is awful no matter what your solution is, and it's the quietest and noisiest console of the three!

OH YEA! You can add me on PSN if you want: ZyroXZ2

Just thought I'd throw some thoughts out there so far.  I'll do a proper comparison and shakedown after I own it for 6 months, but until then, here's the intro to its segment on my channel! :)

#315067 FAST Racing Neo - A Chance to Pick Their Brain!

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 19 June 2015 - 06:42 PM in Wii U Games and Software

This game reminds me to ExtremeG

Interesting, I find it to not even be close, lol (other than speed and winding tracks).  I liked Extreme G a LOT, but it had weapons, which is a major factor in how these kinds of games play.  Though, breaking the sound barrier was EASILY one of the coolest things in Extreme G, and I used to get goosebumps when everything went quiet!  :D

I would like to see them make a 30fps game just to see what they can do with double the time to render things. I don't care what type of game it would be.

Framerate isn't always directly correlated to graphical capabilities.  Meaning, 30 fps doesn't mean they can suddenly pull off, say, 900p and/or global illumination, etc.  30 fps would probably only allow, say, more CPU racers, or perhaps more realistic handling physics calculations.  The sheer power of the Wii U's GPU may not allow for more intense rendering techniques at playable speeds, which seems to have been what they described when they tried it all and only got 15 fps, lol

#315035 FAST Racing Neo - A Chance to Pick Their Brain!

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 19 June 2015 - 11:54 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I had a chance to pick Manfred's brain on FAST Racing Neo!

Here you go, copy-and-pasted!

-

Jason (ZyroXZ2): FAST Racing Neo, of course by its name, is all about speed.  You also emphasize that the Subsonic League is the slowest speed during the Treehouse gameplay.  Yet, I saw a lot of running into walls and other situations where speed and response time were coming into play.  Will the Hypersonic League speed render some vehicles virtually inadvisable, lacking the handling characteristics necessary to navigate more complex courses, or have all vehicles been relatively well-balanced for all modes of play?

Manfred (Shin'en): We made sure FAST Racing Neo is very accessible right from the start. After playing just a few rounds you really get a feeling for your vehicle. We think it's pretty easy to pick up and get much fun of it.

When you finished the Subsonic league and entering the Supersonic league you will need to adjust but this is where another layer of fun comes in. You will need to learn new tricks to master the courses.
Also you will get access to new vehicles with different stats. It's up to the player to develop his own driving style and which vehicle to use. Each cars has it's very own behavior and even the developers at Shin'en have each their favorite.

Jason (ZyroXZ2): Speaking of speed, the game runs at 60 fps to ensure that a fluid sense of rapid movement is maintained.  However, the game also supports local 4-player splitscreen.  What compromises have been made to ensure that 4-player splitscreen maintains that sense of speed?  For example, are there no CPU racers in 4-player splitscreen matches?

Manfred (Shin'en): We are still working on local multiplayer. We currently try multiple techniques and find the perfect balance for performance and sense of speed.

Jason (ZyroXZ2): Since I'm talking frames-per-second, let's go ahead and talk graphics for a moment.  The Wii U is established as being the weakest console of the 3 current generation systems.  Regardless, I've always maintained that maxing out the hardware would result in a good-looking game. Unfortunately, there are only a handful of examples.  Fortunately, you've come to the rescue!  Was coding the graphics engine and optimizing it difficult?  Can you confidently say you've maxed out the hardware, and that every available drop of power is being used in FAST Racing Neo?

Manfred (Shin'en): When starting with the game we had a vision. We wanted to develop the most exciting futuristic racing game on the market. We decided from the beginning it will be 60fps, anything else was not an option for a game that fast. So we knew all GPU and CPU stuff must fit into 16 milliseconds, which isn't a lot, especially when most games you get compared with are running on consoles with higher specs and with 30fps. We knew from the beginning we can't develop this vision with techniques everyone else does use. We would need to find different ways to achieve our vision. This was a big motivation because we like working on limits and pushing boundaries.

We started experimenting for a year. After a short time we had a working prototype but it ran only at around 15 fps when we enabled all the cool stuff and effects you now see in the game. We had 8k Softshadows, a complete HDR pipeline, physical based rendering, SSAO, more than 10,000 drawcalls, High Quality Motionblur, High Quality Godrays, Cinematic Color Grading, Volumetric lighting and so on. It looked really pretty but was near unplayable.

We then needed the rest of the year to find fast enough solutions to handle all these effects or to find new solutions that give the same results. Often we used tricks from the past that are pretty complicated to implement but that deliver the same effect with a fraction of the costs. To make long story short: In the end we were pretty happy seeing finally the game reaching 60fps. When finally playing at 60fps with all bells and whistles for the first time we knew we did the best work in our career. I don't say anyone else can't go even further on Wii U, but personally we reached our limits.

Jason (ZyroXZ2): Online multiplayer is practically the lifeblood of a majority of today's games.  FAST Racing Neo supports online multiplayer, but not much details on it have surfaced.  Will there be CPU racers to fill in the slots if not enough players can be found?  Will it support two-player splitscreen online multiplayer like Mario Kart 8?

Manfred (Shin'en): We still implement online multiplayer. We haven't fully finalized the design yet.

Jason (ZyroXZ2): Finally, it's undoubtedly true that there are many of us, me included, that want to play this game.  It's got a 2015 release year, but the Treehouse footage was clearly labeled "alpha version".  We are midway into the year, and I am a little concerned that FAST Racing Neo isn't in the beta stage, let alone that bug-squashing stage just before release.  How confidently can you tell me we'll see FAST Racing Neo before the close of 2015?

Manfred (Shin'en): It's a very ambitious goal, thats right. Anyway our Treehouse session and especially THE MIX session at E3 showed that the game is already working like a charm. There was no crash or other bugs for the complete day. We are very hard at work to finish all things up with perfect polish.

Jason (ZyroXZ2): Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Manfred!  May FAST Racing Neo be your best-selling game yet and I look forward to reviewing it myself! :)

Manfred: (Shin'en): Thanks a lot.

#310503 YouTube Links / Embeds

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 13 March 2015 - 11:41 PM in Site News and Feedback

Thought I would share this.

Before, when I would go to post a youtube video I'd just use the "share" directly below the youtube video I wanted to use. (see red arrow) Simply copying and pasting that link it would automatically embed the video on the forums.

Recently, it has not. At first I thought it was just the video, so I tried others from various channels and the same result, just a link to the video.

So, if you want to post a youtube video and embed it into the post, just use the youtube link in the address bar. See blue arrow.

Example,

https://youtu.be/9akCInPHE_A   - share link now just links

- long link in address bar auto embeds

Just remember you cannot embed more then 2 videos in one post, each additional one will just be a link.

attachicon.gifYT.png

The auto-embed for short links works just fine, just remove the 's' from "https": it's the secure link that's breaking it.

#308626 Xbox One Lunar White Controller (Review) | ZyroXZ2

Since, like, 2 people said they'd be interested in seeing my opinions on the new Battlefield Hardline beta, I went ahead and did it all for them! :P

[See OP]

Wow- your review of Dragon Age sounded like it deserved more than an 8.5....I'll get this eventually but it will be a while b/c of my back log.

The issues I listed still hold it back from being a higher-scoring game: slow mounts that are barely faster than being on foot, a clunky interface, tons of junk to constantly have to sell, stiff animation and animation stuttering... The animation issues were one of the biggest offenders, as there's no reason for a modern 2014 game to have an issue like that!

***AUTO-MERGED: Xbox One vs Wii U!***

Now that I've owned the Xbox One for 6 months, it's time to give a more proper shakedown to it and pit it against the Wii U. Has my first Microsoft console turned me into a fan?

***AUTO-MERGED: Dead or Alive 5 Last Round Review!***

Yes this game has boobs.  It also has high level martial arts being performed by hot females that goes above the stereotype that females generally do not have physical prowess.  I like boobs, but I also like a good, strong female!

#310003 Tantalus’ Wii U port will be announced soon for this year, studio’s biggest .

It's probably sonic boom.

That's probably one of the best guesses of what we're losing I've seen anywhere, lol

#309904 Tantalus’ Wii U port will be announced soon for this year, studio’s biggest .

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 01 March 2015 - 08:11 PM in Wii U Games and Software

My greater concern is that they are apparently porting a Wii U game to the PS4/Xbox One...

Ya see, I'm all for the Wii U getting more games, but losing exclusives?  They'd better not be porting Bayonetta 2 (and btw, that CAN be possible since Sega owns the IP and can publish a port on other systems themselves [obviously outsourcing the port job to a developer like Tantalus] if there is no explicit part of the contract stating that the game will remain Wii U-only indefinitely).

This is much like how Mass Effect, originally published by Microsoft Game Studios, eventually ended up on other platforms through EA buying out Bioware and Bioware owning the IP.

#309711 Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (Video Review)

Posted by ZyroXZ2 on 26 February 2015 - 12:20 PM in Wii U Game Reviews

There hasn't been a whole lot of Nintendo games to post reviews for and all, but finally we have another one

I have to say, "Kirby and the Rainbow Curse" probably won't sell like it deserves, but that seems to be sort of common with the current generation: quality games don't sell that well; hyped and marketed mediocre games sell millions.

And yet, this game keeps me happy to be a Nintendo fan!
