Here's the other half of the demo.

This one has a little more interaction.

Speaking of tessellation, I just heard that the Xbox 360 will employ a rendering technique called "mega meshes" that will supposedly take advantage of the tessellation unit that I never knew the console had.

Here's a tech demo.

I'm not sure if this is anything to really be excited about. AMD's in hardware tessellation unit in the Radeon HD 4XXX series of GPU's wasn't very efficient. To do anything meaningful with the tessellation unit in the 4XXX series you practically needed the raw computing power of Radeon HD 4850x2 or 4870x2 both of which are practically a full generational leap from Xbox 360's Xeon. I don't see how a tessellation unit on the Xbox 360's Xeon would be any different. Notice how lifeless majority of that tech demo was for instance. This may be too taxing on the hardware for the Xbox 360 to utilize this in any meaningful way in games.

Well, Microsoft plans on using this rendering technique in their upcoming exclusives. In fact, this tech demo was derived from Peter Molyneux's Kinect project, Milo and Kate.

Then its likely that you won't see a whole lot done with this at least not on Xbox 360. They may be able to utilize this technique to a certain degree in real world situations, but something else has to take a hit to utilize it to any real effect. At this point developers don't have much left over processing power to throw into this rendering technique regarding Xbox 360 hardware.

It looks astounding, breathtaking. You can clearly see this is impossible in current gen consoles, besides PC.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything more about that Japanese street demo that is suppose to blow all the other demo's out of the water, including the hawk and zelda ones.
I've only seen IGN write about it and I've not been able to find any other references to it.

I went looking for it, but no such luck. If anyone finds it anywhere, please post it for us.

I've found another journalism guy type talking about it confirming it blows the other 2 HD vids out of the water, but it was strictly behind closed doors. For some reason Nintendo is withholding the Wii U's true power.

the 10% thing was in reference to the entire console, not just its graphical powers. As in we've seen some of the graphics, we've seen some of the controls, still have the online experience to show, social networking, 3DS connectivity etc.

Let's keep in mind that the whole 10% thing isn't some exact figure. It was just Reggie saying there's a lot more to look forward to. It's not like there's 90% more console to show...unless...unless...unless the ACTUAL WiiU is 10 WiiUs stacked on top of each other in a tower for maximum computing power! :D

This is old but some of you might not have seen it yet. I didn't get any results from the search bar and I apologise if there is already a thread like this.

By the way it looks significantly "crisper" if played in HD.

NinjaShock, of all people, Guides should be aware of the search feature. <_<

I've merged your thread into the original one we had for this.

Whoops, sorry. But the search popped it up for me in an instant. Next time, try using several different possible key words. :) I found it with "japanese garden" (which is what the demo is actually called).
