Yes. That is the one thing I want for all special occasions: cash.
I think my Dad was mostly confused by how you could use past Wii accessories on the Wii U. He told me he was buying the console but not the controller, but I'd be surprised if Nintendo released it without the new controller. Of course, with what it can do, you might expect the price to be jacked up, so I don't blame him.
