Bought Mario Kart for Wii today. Loaded the disc, tried to access the online multiplayer mode & I got an error saying I am not able to connect to the internet. Says to check my settings. There are no settings in Wii mode, so I double check the internet settings in Wii U mode. Did a connection test, went fine with no errors.

What am I doing wrong?

Not sure, it works for me so far.

There are some settings in Wii mode, if you select the Wii image at the bottom left of the channel list you can get to system settings.

Last time I checked, that just gives you the data settings.

There should be a settings icon in the bottom-left corner of the Wii screen. From there I'm pretty sure you can set up the internet connection.

Make sure the Wii icon is shown beside your connection, otherwise it won't work.

If you use WPA2, use WPA1-PSK it'll work fin for both.(if this is wrong search for one of my earlier posts where i actually checked what I've been using and what worked on my wii for 4 years)

I use WPA2-PSK for both.  It has to be AES/TKIP I think though.

I ended up getting it to work. I just deleted my connection from connection settings & set it up again. Went into Wii mode & it worked fine!
