Disney Infinity 2

Disney has announced that they will be pushing the date of release of Disney Infinity, and the range of figures that accompany the game, to August 18th in North America, and August 20th in other regions, instead of keeping the original June release date.

Pleasants said the following in an article of The New York Times:

We could deliver in June if we wanted to. Will a two-month timing change help us? Sure, of course. It gives us a little more time to add bells and whistles and make sure it really sings and pops.

It appears the delay is part of a marketing strategy more so than a bid for more development time, as Pleasants also said:

We think it’s good to be first [to release Disney Infinity before the new line of Skylanders] and really lean into the most important selling season of the year.

Although they now have the ability to add more to the game, it’s beginning to look like a lot of games are going through development Hell on the Wii U. However, it’s not quite as big of a delay as a certain game from Ubisoft, but gamers may be upset over yet another game delay for the Wii U.

How does this delay affect you? Will this affect your choice to purchase the game?
