Recently, the chief operating officer of EA, Peter Moore, was interviewed by Gamespot UK. In the interview, he said the following on his opinion on console gaming:
he console business is still a core part of our business; it’s the majority of our business. The demise of console gaming is very premature as far as we’re concerned
Although it’s great to see he believes in the console market, his next comment is not so good for Nintendo to EA relations:
We still have thousands of people focused on developing current-generation Xbox 360 and PS3 games, as well as people focused now on the next generation when that finally arrives, and so, people still want core games. People want to sit back in their living rooms, take advantage of their HD TVs, and and play fully immersive games like Battlefield 4.
Apparently he either forgot that the Wii U exists, or he’s indirectly stating that EA is not working on any Wii U titles right now. It also appears that he doesn’t believe that the Wii U is a next generation console.
EA has been in a bit of hot water lately with gamers, with the SimCity embarrassment on the PC, but should gamers be upset that EA appears to be less than friendly towards the Wii U, particularly with a lack of future games?
