When I first saw the Wii U I immediately thought of a cross country rally game with 2 players, one player acts as driver and has a wii remote the other has the wii u gamepad with a minimap and acts as the navigator. Similar to a real cross country race, so it's a sort of co-operative gameplay.

I tried to create this game myself but couldn't raise the funds, and at the time nIntendo approval was a bit hard to get when one works from a home office. Bit of a no-brainer idea and obvious and I was wondering whether there were such games coming out soon, whether the rumor mill had pointed to any? I also was wondering what people's opinion was on this sort of gameplay?rallygame1.jpg Please excuse the poor mockup - I'm not an artist I can just about manage to cut together a bad image in photoshop.

I'm not really in to those types of games, but I'm sure it would be cool, despite two people racing as one, that would get annoying.

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

Hey, this is actually a pretty sweet idea.

Unfortunately, this sounds like a hard sell. First off, the concept requires two players to operate (or it should in theory). What happens to the people who do not have that luxury of a second user? Perhaps co-op online? Maybe the player using the Gamepad can get off track feedback about current conditions to have that more immersive role.

Secondly, a second user sounds useless after a while assuming you use static courses like that in Mario Kart. To make the second user effective, you'd need to find a way to make the tracks continually changing. I suppose you could use ideas like weather, from light rain and wind to an outright earthquake to make the track alter. You could also make it so that only a section of a much larger area becomes the current track and is randomly generated.

Find a way around these if you want the idea to sound more appealing. On that note, the main sell is the co-op experience, so its a bit hard to imagine this as a retail title even after completion and polish. Perhaps a digital only sell.

@Prime Minister Goto - well the course would be open area - similar to the Dakar Rally. The idea is to play it at home with another family member or friend, online wouldn't work as player two basically has to instruct, verbally, the driver to get the car to the finish post. The two players play in co-operation. If you're driving a rally car across terrain like the sahara or even some of the smaller courses, as it's a race, the driver can't stop to figure out the route, the co-drivar actually reads a map and tells the driver where to turn and where the easiest terrain to cross is. However, in actual races this map is a height terrain map so it's quite hard to figure out. Player one (the driver) would basically see out the car window and very little else, they wouldm't know what was around the next bend, he would need player two to provide that information, so in essence the two players play teh game in tandem. It is of course true about needing a wii remote as well as a wii u gamepad so that is a definite negative of this type of game.

I really like the idea of a Rally game that has an option for a navigator.

Isn`t this alread presente in NFS: Most Wanted? Or at least in a similar way?

I think that something like that could really work if the tracks keep changing. That is, you never play the same track twice. Otherwise, you learn the courses and there`s really no point in having a co-pilot.
