ok guy and girls

ive sold a few wii u games and ps3 games and need some advice regarding the eshop card

was going to buy some indie games on the eshop today but graingergames says the eshop cards are not compatible with the wii u system as you can see below

and wouldnt advise me on buying them

240327_gen_b.png 240328_gen_b.png

small description from GAME.CO.UK website

You can use Nintendo Points to buy WiiWare or Nintendo DSiWare games, Virtual Console games or add-on content for certain titles. Nintendo Points can be added to your Wii Shop Channel or Nintendo DSi Shop accounts by entering the code found on Nintendo Points Cards. When Nintendo Points are added to your Wii Shop Channel account, they will become Wii Points. Likewise, redeeming a Nintendo Points Card in the Nintendo DSi Shop will turn Nintendo Points into Nintendo DSi Points.

Nintendo Points Cards can be bought from retailers, or purchased online with a credit card in the form of Wii Points or Nintendo DSi Points via the Wii Shop Channel or Nintendo DSi Shop. Nintendo Points Cards can also be purchased from the Nintendo Points Card Shop with Stars from your Club Nintendo account

so my question is will these cards work on nintendo eshop or not

Doesn't work for Wii U, only wii, 3ds and dsi (but works on the Wii shop channel on the wii emulator on the wii u)

Yes they do.

If they have the £ or € symbol, they're for the eShop.

eShop meaning both Wii U and 3DS versions, but they also convert to points on Wii and DSi shopping channel, if you want to use them there.

You trust amazon but you don't trust Nintendo?

Nintendo actually encrypt your data, and password protect it, along with accounts on the WiiU.

It's easier to buy with your credit card directly.

I've seen eshop cards at tesco and places like that, check your local they're probably bundled together with apple icards or whatever they are.

Can't you get points through a credit card transaction without having to save your credit card information?  I think that's what I did on my 3DS.

The card details are still sent.

Yeah but OP referenced the Playstation Network incident, which was when hackers got access to credit card info that was stored in PSN accounts.

If she's that silly about it though, it'd not much of a distinction to make.

Something that happened once over a period of 7 years and a company who put much less effort into protecting data than Nintendo, along with the things which were learned from it by every company.

Seems like they're comparable to someone sniffing your packets or telephone calls.

Time of Manufacture is irrelevant.

Actually, the time of the card's production is quite relevant. Initially, eshop and Wii Shop points were produced on seperate cards. Meaning, if you bought an Eshop card meant for the 3DS, you were out of luck when it came to redeeming the points on your Wii. That said, the concern is rather irrelevant at this point since most retailers should have long since pulled those versions of the Nintendo point cards from the racks.

In direct response to the initial question, yes, the point cards displayed should work without issue.

How so?

I think the one thing they screwed up regarding the cards is that for the first year ore more, pretty much nobody saw them anywhere.

eShop cash cards I mean, when the 3DS launched.

I, myself only saw one like around Christmas last year.
