Since I am personally thrilled to play pikmin 3, I began to wish that more strategy games (rts and turnbased) would be released sooner or later for the Wii U.  And from what I noticed, the gamepad would make RTS games more viable imo.

 

I would love to see a Civilization game, Heroes of Might and Magic or even an age of empires 2 remake get released for the Wii U.

 

What do you guys think?  Should the Wii U have more Strategy games?

Hmmm, that would be interesting, I haven't thought of strategy games on Wii U just mindless violence.

I have never played a strategy game other than Pikmin(unless you count chess. I love chess. And othello). For me, however, it seems like nothing could outshine the glory of pikmin 3.

 

Except Pikmin 4, of course.

 

(I think wii U needs some games before we get into specific genres)

True, more games the better.  But more variety would make more people happy and more strategy games would mean some additional 3rd party developers which hopefully would be tempting to Nintendo.

If we're talking about what's good for nintendo then...I would say we're okay with the strategy games for now. With a big name game like Pikmin 3 coming out, nintendo should be able to carry the weight.  (if there is a specific game you think wii u needs, I probably don't know it, I only know nintendo franchises)

well strategy games don't seem to be system sellers so I see what you mean, I mean even for the PC a larger number of PC gamers tend to play FPS more than anything.

It definitely should. It should get MMORPGs as well.

I would love so RTS games, used to play them all the time, I'd love an excuse to play more!!!

Strategy games tend to be released on the PC rather then consoles primarily because they play much better with a keyboard and mouse. There have been a few on other consoles over the years like Civilisation, Command And Conquer. One of the best ones on the PS3 and 360 recently was Xcom: Enemy Unknown. There was an excellent one on the PS3 and PSP exclusively called Valkyria Chronicles. I don't recall the Wii and GameCube having many if any at all other then Pikmin. The Nintendo portables have had Advance Wars and Fire Emblem both of which could be brought to the Wii U. Its not a genre I play though.

there is a fireemblem for wiiU comming i beleave, other than that, dont know of any, gamepad should help with bringing one over.

Pikmin 3 looks like some fun strategy. I practically gave up on Pikmin because of that time limit though. Quite excited for the inevitable FE:U. Just hope that rating is a lower so I can slip it by easier. :/ I remember there was also this StarWars: Empire at War I think it was called. To put that on WiiU...-head explodes-
