Last year, Nintendo collaborated with Marvelous AQL to develop Pokémon Tretta, an arcade game where you collect “Tretta” (pictured above).

You scan your Tretta into the machine to call out the appropriate Pokémon, and then partake in a 3-on-3 battle once you’ve picked your party. If you win, the game gives you a new Tretta to add to your collection and use.

Now, Pokémon Tretta is headed to the Nintendo 3DS. The 3DS game is titled Pokémon Tretta Lab for 3DS, and is also being developed by Marvelous AQL. A Tretta reader device will be shipped for the game, although details on how the game works or differs from the arcade version aren’t available yet.

Pokémon Tretta Lab for 3DS is slated for release on August 10th for 3,800 yen.

If this comes to the west, i can it be released before Pokemon X and Y since it's a 5th Generation Pokemon game :P

^Arcade version.

Damn......I'm sure its not coming to NA, just like Dragon Ball Heroes. Hopefully a console Pokemon game similar to the GC versions, NOT Battle Revolution.

Sounds cool, the arcade concept. But will it work on the 3DS?

Bulbagarden

More details have been unveiled for the game. Three Trettas will come with the game: Eevee, Mewtwo, and Lucario. A fourth Tretta Pichu will come with the first printings of the game. The game will have two different version: One that has a lower tray for the Nintendo 3DS, and one that has a bigger tray for the Nintendo 3DS XL.

A downloadable app will be available when Pokémon Tretta Lab comes out called the Pokémon Tretta Lab Main System. Pokemon Tretta Lab Main System will be a free download. The main system will have three different modes. The first is called the Tretta Analyzer. With this mode, scanned Tretta's information will be displayed. The second mode is called Type Checker. With this mode, other Trettas that match the scanned Tretta can be looked up. The third mode is called Auto Battle. With this mode, opponents can be battled that are exclusive to Pokémon Tretta Lab.
