To get people buying new hardware, and a new balance board Nintendo will need to really work hard on the features for Wii U, based on what has already been said about the application I would like to share some ideas that they could implement
1) Be your own fitness instructor. Via the webcam and mic - Wii Fit U could be an online collective of selected friends to join you in group fitness sessions with YOU at the forefront as the instructor, share and hide stats for friends to encourage you to push yourself to the limit.
2) A new balance board. The advanced U board has not only got far more sensitive to measure posture and weight, but also measures pulse, and oxygen level, along with temperature to make sure you don't overdo it
3) Bring the Wii Fit experience on the go with the Wii Fit vitality sensor, originally show at E3 2009 for the Wii, this wireless vitality sensor has been bought out to measure your pulse and oxygen level on the go to link up with your 3DS pedometer, comes with a handy 3DS holster for the hardcore jogging elite. Update and synch stats with your Wii U.
4) Encourage kids to be active by using balance board + Wii Motion Plus based fun filled mini-games
These are just four ideas one of which has been confirmed, the others have not been mentioned. I really think that selling it as a bee your own fitness instructor could really boost sales, alongside having a 3DS app that comes with the long awaited and rebranded vitality sensor to bring Wii Fit to the 3DS and have it interact with your health statistics could really help sell both consoles as not only a fun games console, but a serious health system too.
