I'm perfectly happy to have the game not be designed to require both the TV and the gamepad. Then other people can use the main tv while I play something on the gamepad.

I think it would be cool to have a mini-game(s) for off-TV use....just kind of a bonus-doesn't have to be anything major.
I wish I could remember which article it was and even so it was nothing concrete but it was mentioned their Zelda U will make full of use of the gamepad and be fully integrated in every part of the game. Nothing but talk at this point but it's possible they're not showing off the gamepad until they have a flagship game (or two) with which to show it off. I'm also of the opinion unless there's a meaningful, fun and intuitive way to incorporate the gamepad into the software just let it function as a second screen/helpful utility. Not every game needs to use it for the sake of using it. Let it build up some momentum and show off it's functionality so developers are tempted to use it rather than feel forced to use it as an afterthought just because it's part of the system.

I think the reason is not because it`s not being used on games anymore, but more because, there was basically no talk abou them during the ND. There was no talk about Wii U during EA or Ubisoft`s press conferences, so, basically, little to no news.
The only tidbits i can think of were the ability to write messages during the Zelda game; playing on the gampead with B2 and using the pen to control the attacks; changing the camera angle in Mario and that`s about it.
Of course, with the exception of Wii Party U! Which, to be honest, used it in a pretty cool way.
If there`s some better use for the gamepad in the E3 games we might get to see them later.

I have to say Nintendo is darned if they do darned if they don't.
Last gen : Booo the gimmick is motion control. They should focus less on it.
This gen : Boooo the gimmick is an extra screen. They should focus on it more!
Not saying here but I even read a report saying nintendo doesn't even know how to use the screen so they are doomed. I get the screen is a feature (trust me, i love the pad) but people to see what nintendo is doing is not pushing quote "gimmicks" so some of the ps4/xbone auidence might think it's worth checking out. It's good stratagy but at the same time the screen is the best feature.
I'm still waiting for a mario party OR even better, Nintendoland 2

I didn't get the way the Game Pad should be used on some of the multi-player games..... I just got frustrated and quit.
I do like the controller itself- too bad Madden isn't going to have a Wii U edition next year. I really liked using it for that. And I love it for Mario Bros.

It'd be cool if it did a split game mode, say for example the kids play a more E-rated version of the gam on the main screen while the person with the gamepad play the more gory version

I think a feature like that would be good in instances like crafting in an MMO where usually it's a horribly boring time sink watching progress bars while you're stuck at a crafting station.
