And I'm more of a COD player, so naturally I suck big time. LIke big time. Like getting 1 kill and 19 deaths, or no kills in an entire match at all... I've played 2 missions of the campaign I think (which is hard too). I just can't get any kills, die constantly and.. ugh, no point in explaining even. Please help me out with some kind of advice, I'm the noobest of noobs. I know that I shouldn't just run around the maps, what class to pick, don't drive vehicles when you don't know how to etc..
Just started playing BF3..

Lol it's been awhile since I played BF3, but since you have COD experience it shouldn't be too hard to transition.
COD's multiplayer is more... "Arcade" like compared to BF3 where you have to be more tactical and smart about your decisions.
Other than that, it's only natural that you feel like you "suck" because you need to get used to the maps first. Also, BF3 has been around for quite awhile now so I'm pretty sure there are alot of vets roaming around. Just take time to learn the maps.
As for the campaign? never bothered with it.

Trust me, I suck at the beginning too when I switch from COD to whatever the current BF game is. Takes a few matches to warm up.

two huge things that you probably do coming from COD
1. SLOW DOWN. Before you run around a corner, peek out and see what's there. DO NOT RUSH IN.
2. Fire in bursts. There is recoil in BF3.
...
3. stick with your team ^^
seriously, if you actually think about those three things while you play, you'll be fine. Try it and tell us how it goes.

BF3 is not RnG, run and gun is suicide in BF3, you have to play more tacticly

I can run and gun pretty effectively in BF3, mostly because I'm also able to flank well.
There's my helpful strategy, given the chance, ALWAYS FLANK. You can seriously give your team an edge with a good flank, especially when you're a recon and you have the portable beacon.
Also, play the class which suits your playstyle best. (Or, if you're one of THOSE people, just play Assault and use the M16 all day.)
And remember, BURST FIRE. ALWAYS BURST FIRE. The only time when you should go full auto is when you're in a close quarters situation.
*EDIT* Touching more upon flanking.
I've seen rush games or conquest games go up in smoke because the entire enemy team was spawntrapping another team and a few people managed to slip past and steal either the M-COMs or the Flags, resulting in the enemy team having to run back to defend it while your team can push up again.

I did all of these things since my first match...one of my friends is a good player so when I sticked and listened to him things went better.. but I still couldn't get more than 7 kills or so. When I see an enemy I just.. rarely kill him. I have more assists than kills almost.

another thing that seemed to make a huge difference until i got more comfortable with aiming in BF3 was putting a red dot sight (or some other optics) on my assault rifle. Give that a try.

I'm in same boat, got it today for free on ps+ I have to ask who is the blue guy? My team = green text when I played a match and enemies = orange. But I kept seeing 1 blue texted guy.

Green= your Squad (group of four highlighted so friends can communicate better)
Blue= your team ( all the other squads working with you)
Orange = enemy (enemy squads)

How do i mute other players? i went in to the squad menu and clicked the X to mute but they still kept babbling on.
I didn't ever hear others except for my friends so idk...
Also anyone got tips for killing? I always have a bad KD and not many kills.
