There are certain genres of games that I have no interest in at all.  At the very top of my list is Turned Based RPGs ... who in the world could even enjoy one of those?  I have no interest in Fighting Games although I do not mind watching others play them.  I have no interest in Racing Games although I used to enjoy playing one on the PS1.  I generally do not  have interest in sports games but used to play a lot of Football on the Intellivision back in the day and I do enjoy golf games and have many fond memories of playing Leader Board Golf on the Commodore 64.  and I DON'T LIKE STRATEGY GAMES EITHER.

I like Platformers, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Person Shooters, Action Games, Action Adventure Games / Action RPGs, Puzzle Games, and Casual Sports Games like Pool or Golf.

Yet Pikmin has peaked my interest  ... years ago I did play Pikmin 1 but never finished it and I believe at the time I felt, although I liked the world, I did not like the control or set up of the game.

There is something so creative and beautiful about it, something mysterious to me, something calling me to it ....and after reading that there were not so strict time limits on the levels or that you could go back in and pick up where you left off ... that in combination with the nice controls of the Wiimote and using the pad for the map ... I think I will pick this game up.

Anyone else out there HATE STRATEGY GAMES BUT FEEL THE URGE TO PICK UP PIKMIN?

*piqued your interest. I don't usually mind mishaps, but there's a big difference in words there hehe.

Anyways, I love Pikmin so I can't speak from the other side of the fence, but I can say that the game is still worth checking out even if you don't like the Strategy genre. There's certainly aspects of it in here, but as whole the game is massively different. To not give Pikmin a try because you dislike Strategy games is kind of like saying you won't give ketchup a taste because tomato is a main ingredient. (Not the best metaphor, but the bottle of ketchup in the kitchen was staring at me when I lifted my head to think of one...)

haha, I need to correct that!  Seems I have reached my Peak when it comes blunders!  and to think, I almost wrote Piiked ... at least that would have been more appropriate!

I was intrigued with the first Pikmin I played and because this one seems more forgiving, I feel like I want to lose myself in that interesting world.

You like second person shooters? Daym you need to have skills to play those types of games.

Although Pikmin is a strategy game, it doesn't feel like one. Buy the second game for the Wii and check it out, if you like it, buy Pikmin 3.

Also you're missing out on pokemon... POKEMON! GO PLAY POKEMON and your view and turned based RPG will alter.

Yeah, you should totally buy it, so you can make a thread in two months time saying you hate Nintendo and they suck because you made a decision to buy a game in a genre you knew you didn't enjoy.

Well actually I should have said  I like 1st & 3rd Person shooters and 2D & 3D Shooters.

I have tried Pokemon & Final Fantacy & Mario RPG - Can't understand why anyone would like them.

My point about Pikmin is it does seem different than other strategy games, for one thing, this time around, it seems more forgiving ... also, I do like the environment it is set in ... like controlling bugs in a beautiful garden.

I was wondering are their others out there that don't usually like strategy games but like Pikmin or think they would like it based on what they have seen?

I don't like tomato but I love ketchup and other tomato-based sauces so I guess the metaphor is good and very much applicable  :P

^ This. I think you should be able to get Pikmin 2 pretty cheap off Ebay, there's like 85% chance you'll like it, I guess.

I love racing games.  Football is fun, but it's not something I'd get every year- maybe every other year.  Pikmin looks okay but I think I want to get some other titles before this, like Sonic, Rayman and Donkey Kong.

its not always about the game type but its the game itself.

I like rpg games but some just get to me and i cant play them.

I love metal gear acid and ff7 but i didnt like ff10 and up they just got dry and gameplay change and went down the whole imo.

Now pikmin i have always love it. Its more like you have an army of ants and you gotta make it on your own with them.

And yes your in a garden or back yard. There is levels on 1 and 2 where your in a sand box and peoples back yards.

but i say if you like 1 then get 3 it will look better and has a lot more in it.

as few as controls good its suppose to be Wii classic controls or upgrade gamecube controls with the game pad.

I can't wait to see what people have to say about it when it comes out, especially people that usually don't like strategy games but decided to pick it up.
