Can someone explain how TVii works?  Do you have to hook up your satellite receiver to the Wii U like with the Xbox One, or is the Wii U being used like a controller to control the receiver itself, or what?

it's just a universal remote is all.

It's a universal remote. You sync it to your box and TV and can use it as a remote and personalized tv guide.

It's not out in Europe yet (lol, never will be).
So no, the twittering and facebooking things look interesting, but doubt i'd use it at all since i never watch tv on my tv.

The remote is god though, turning on my tv from the console and all, and that exists even here!

I don't think the WIi U is technically "on"

 

But even if it did, the Wii U wouldn't noticeably affect the power bill

to use TVii the console has to be on. I have DTV and when you set it up you choose your region and what type of receiver you have. It does and auto search for the codes. It finds the right code and your set. You then can go through and create a personalized guide. View the actual TV guide, the remote actually resembles the DTV remote in a way minus some buttons. You can change the channel through the guide. Limited DTV functions. You can get updates for sports and post about it. hope that helps.

TVii, yeah.
The remote, no.

The difference is pretty graphics and online twittering and stuffs with books and faces type stuff versus a simple number pad.
