A new study conducted by research firm Interpret LLC claims that 28% of Nintendo 3DS users surveyed believe the system’s 3D feature detracts from the gameplay experience. 22% of those surveyed thought the 3D improved gameplay, but 13% decided not to use 3D. 56% of the 1600 participants stated that their ideal 3D gaming experience is a 3D-capable console connected to a TV, and only 7% preferred the Nintendo 3DS.

Yeah, I just read about it on Zelda Informer.

Did you know that there are certain people that didn't know that you could actually lower turn off the 3D effect.

I always felt like this when hearing them say it in real-life or writing it on the internet:

This is also how i feel when i hear that. I can't believe they didn't listen to the instructions when you first activate your 3ds.

A friend said 3D can hurt your eyes, so the DSi XL is supposedly better. JUST TURN IT OFF! That's what I think they're saying in the ad.

Well just say to your friend, that the 3DS and DSi are two completely different portable consoles (handhelds), and that the 3DS is way better.

I don't think the 3D experience on the 3DS "detracts" the gameplay at all. Rather than detracting it, I would say it enhances the gameplay. To all the people out their, if you have had any health problems or something in particular like that, the warnings say in the manual, don't use the 3D! That is why Nintendo made a 3D slider (Depth Slider).
I don't think a survey would change Nintendo's mind on the 3DS. As big of a giant Nintendo is, only %13 of 1600 people voted that they don't use 3D, Nintendo will probably not take notes.
I do think that a lot of people don't know that the 3DS has a 3D slider, so you can turn it on or off. Maybe that's why this survey turned out the way it did.

OFF-TOPIC!!!! Anyways, I don't think that 3D will go away, they just want people to know that you can turn 3D off almost anytime.

It seems that Nintendo have realised that 3D isn't a hit with everyone. That advert does seem a bit patronizing though. Mind you, there are plenty of people out there who don't realise that the 3D is optional.

If the details of the survey, such as ages, gender, hobbies and location of the survey, are not included it's pretty useless for the average person, let alone Nintendo's marketing division.
