Yeah, this update rules. It has furked me over. Playing Wonderful 101, it downloaded, installed successfully, eboot too have no output on my TV via HDM, & Wii U Gamepad not synced. I tried my Wii's component cables (Red, Green, Blue), no clue where my composite cables are after I moved a few years back. Going to test it with a buddies composite cables to see if the stupid update changed my output settings to the SD option. If not I am going to have to call up Nintendo (Oh what brilliant fun that will be), pay a stupid shipping fee, & hope Nintendo of America transfers my profile/NNID & game saves over to a new delux console. If not there goes my online name, all my game progress for nine different Wii U games, and some Wii game progress. Sure am glad I was smart enough to not buy off that bloody eShop or it would be bye bye purchases.
Edit: Sorry have to vent on this bollocks. As said below it would be nice to have an update to the virtual machine software to map controls on the none motion controlled games.

being able to output sound over av while using hdmi for video is going to be useful for a couple people on this forum.
I kind of wish Nintendo had allowed us to map the gamepad's buttons to a standard controller, so we can use it as a classic controller or something. It probably won't work as well for games that require the wiimote motion or pointer, but it will work for sure for all virtual console games.

Yes, but you still need a wiimote+nunchuk. But no TV.

Yeah, but there were supposed to be two speed-boosting updates; one in spring and one in the summer (the summer one was pushed back to the end of September/the beginning of October, according to Nintendo).

Am I reading this correctly? You play a game on the gamepad screen with a wii mote/ nunchuk? In what universe does this make sense? I personally would feel like an idiot holding a wiimote/nunchuck while playing on a screen that is nearly the same size as the controllers I'm holding.

I agree it's lame that you can't use the gamepad as a classic controller. But Metroid prime uses the Wiimote, so it wouldn't work with that game anyway. Would have been great for Xenoblade and Monster Hunter though.

I know all the big discussion is on Wii Off TV Play. But I really love the new loading screens for Miiverse and the eShop. Give you something cool to look at while waiting. It's really cool how the Miiverse loading screen shows the different times for different parts of the world, makes sense for a social network.

Not sure if you can change the control scheme of a game through an OS update, though, so I'm assuming they're just doing the best they can with it

You can't. Each individual game would have to be patched and that isn't going to happen.

Not true. They could map the Wiimote and Nunchuk's buttons and motion controls to the gamepad. It is an emulator, after all. It would be like using an Xbox 360 controller with a Gamecube game on an emulator.

If that's true then surely they would've done it? Why would they leave that out when it's so desirable? Well, if they can do it then hopefully it's at least coming soon as another update.

it's not impossible... They'd have to patch the Wii Mode environment though, which they seem to be hesitant to do. But they can stick the remapping app into the home button pause menu.
I just hope they can let us map and save different controls for each game.

The update only took about 15, maybe 20 minutes max. for me. Are you mad yet?

Loading times still aren't exactly fast, but hey, they're not dramatically slow IMO.
