Yeah I hear ya... but it beats shoelaces. LOL. There hasn't been too much exciting recently since the Pikmin 3 Totebag.

A normal black one can be purchased at the Nintendo Store for $20.
But it sucks that this is appealing to me only because the offerings are just generally so bad.

There is just a normal edition white XL, It comes with mario kart but doesn't actually have anything mario kart related on it.

I might as well review mine:
Impression: lighter than I expected. For some reason I was expecting a more weighted block, but it's just relatively thin plastic molded, with the bottom being a inverted relief of the top. At the back it does have a little panel that hides the wires. The lip at the front is enough to make it very easy to line up the 3DS, but it won't catch when you take it out. When you put in the 3DS it pushes down a button that extends the power contacts, which otherwise are retracted to keep them from getting damaged.
Pros:
Colour matches the respective 3DS XL well, and inserting the console is as easy as just plopping it down. It should hold up fine, and it helps protect the power socket from getting damaged.
Con:
Pretty lightweight. it's fine when there's a 3DS in it, but otherwise it seems easy to knock over.
