I think it will happen eventually. See:

Super Mario Bros. (NES) ---> Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (GBC)
Super Mario World (SNES) ---> Super Mario Advance 2 (GBA)
SMW 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES) ---> Super Mario Advance 3 (GBA)
Super Mario 64 (N64) ---> Super Mario 64 DS (DS)
Super Mario Sunshine (GC) ---> Super Mario Sunshine 3D???

It's possible. I'd love to see a sequel or even a port of Super Mario Sunshine to 3DS!

a sequel would be awesome!! i loved that game, but it was one of the harder mario adventures, i must admit but so original, and never got repetitive (unless you died 30 times trying to do one of those levels where u lose fludd and have to jump your way through the obstacle course style thing)

OMG YES <3 I really do hope they make a remake of this game. I do wonder how the squirt nozzle will work without the r pad pressure sensitivity.

Hmm... they could implement it easily I reckon.
* Touch screen
* Hold R, then press other buttons to adjust pressure.

Sunshine is one of my absolute favorites. I loved the tropical theme and all the challenges. In fact, I'm tempted to play it again.

Super Mario Sunshine 3D would be great. If there is one, I wouldn't be surprised to see the game set on Wuhu Island.

Couldn't say it better myself. It really had a good atmosphere and the game was actually very challenging ^^.

people here are saying how hard it was. Only 1 level i found REALLY hard was the hotel one with the mata rays (?) that split when you squirted them and made smaller ones. Rest i found kinda easy with the use of FLUDD.
