I know IGN may not be the best review source, but the 8.8 they gave Forza 5 isn't quite as high as I thought it would be. It makes me feel better about buying a PS4, which I have to send in for repairs.

(Note: No disrepect for the XBox One intended. I would like both systems actually.)

Same here, its a bit of relief to hear that Forza 5 is exactly what I suspected it would be having decided to go with PS4.  Its the same game, actually with LESS content, shinier but totally unrealistic sterile graphics.  They just didn't do enough with it and after having owned Forza 2-4 I'm totally bored with it.

I'm hoping Drive Club by choosing to use proper dynamic lighting will feel better.  There is more to a good racing game than pixel perfect graphics.  I couldn't care less about extra vibration motors in the triggers, I don't want to play a racer with a pad anyway, I want to use my Forza branded wheel which funnily enough doesn't work on Forza 5.

Here's the xbox1 reviews put together by GB community which is kinda kool. Still with Forza it looks like it's getting pretty good reviews as a whole but I for one was/is looking forward to Killer Instinct more than any other launch title for X1. So yeah I bought a ps4 and I hoping to get an X1 by the time TitanFall comes out, still I don't regret getting a PS4 at all since every 3rd party game available for current gen are clearly better on ps4 and I'm digging KZ and Resogun.

My friend got an Xbone today and he says it's pretty cool which I can believe. He got Forza and said....

"Forza is quite good. Needs more tracks I think, and it lacks AA, so it does tend to look a bit rainbowty when you're stopped, but it's not too bad when you're driving at speed. It's insanely pretty too...though, to be honest, the cars look just as good as GT5, but the scenerey for example looks quite a bit better (GT5's scenery is very flat)."

Which I would imagine accurate also. He has a bit of a beast of PC so he wont be blown away by next gen but he does love his gadgets

Since when was 8.8 a bad score. Forza Motor Sport 5 is a gorgeous looking game and the game play is great. I'm not even a racing sim fan and I like it.

I thought I was perhaps jumping to conclusions with my statement above having only seen low resolution footage so far.  So I checked out the Eurogamer high bitrate videos of Forza 5 and can say that its actually worse than a feared, I really don't like how this game looks/feels and find it hard to understand why anyone would be impressed by it.

I immediately noticed that apart from waving a few flags, the crowds watching the race are completely static, as are the trees.  There is basically no life in the game at all, it feels like time has frozen.  The higher resolution just makes it all the more noticeable.

Its particularly jarring when the light is streaming through the windscreen but is completely static.  When have you ever seen light do that?  It always shimmers, fluctuates, due to clouds, tree branches, etc.  It just feels wrong and while I appreciate some people concentrate so hard on the race they do not notice, I would.  This is the sort of thing they would do in movies to creep you out (eg The Langoliers) and you should avoid at all costs in a game focused on realism.

Its such a shame, the cars look awesome, but its basically a lot like why I could never get into Gran Turismo.  The cars look awesome, but the world and how those cars interact with it feel fake.  Even the way the cars move doesn't feel right, which I think might partly be down to the light being so static that you are subconsciously looking for other cues and they aren't there.

Its such a shame when we have games like GTA V on CURRENT gen that actually has dynamic clouds and while the lighting is still very restricted due to the technology, it feels a lot more alive.  Next-gen should be about making the worlds feel as plausible as possible.  In fact, there is a great article on Eurogamer right now addressing all the things done on Killzone: Shadow Fall to make it feel alive and realistic.  Lets hope they take note for Forza 6, or even better PGR 5.  Some of us want more than pixel perfect car models, the whole world should "feel" real even if it isn't photo realistic.

I agree. I never understand why racegames somehow abandoned life on and next to road. I really remember playing Sega Rally and the first Ridge racers, that had birds on the roads, planes, helicopters, crowds and more more, even Outrun somehow had more 'life' in it. Those days are nearly 20 years ago....so I dont understand why Nextgen never is able...

Even last gen's Forza Horizon....openroad, villages, and more...but no living soul alive

What the world needs is more geniuses with humility, there are so few of us left

Comparing one after the other I am more and more happy with Drive Club, I just hope the game play actually holds up too.  Then again, hard to complain when I get the PS+ version to try for free so it doesn't matter if I end up hating it too.
