I have been thinking about the way the WiiU is selling and Nintendo's stuggle to develop for HD.

Even when the WiiU game development will speed up it will be because the internal studios will ficus on it and thus will be less able to invest in 3dS development.

If Nintendo would give up on on consolegaming and was to focus on DSnext, which could be a HD Portable system too, it would make more sense. All studio's could work for one platform and so would the marketing dept.

Now that I'm writing this down I remember news from a couple of months back, that N would be reorganising internal to enhance dual functionality between platforms.

Hey, it would make absolute sense if Nintendo was to create 1 system in the future that would combine the Wii and DS platforms into 1 single system. Imagine the DSnext as a fullHD system with a breakoutbox to connect to tv.

It would make sense too if you look at what Sony did with Vita and PSTV.

Your thoughts?

If Wii U flops, Nintendo's next console should be a PS-Vita/Gamestick hybrid. It just makes too much sense. They can have all their studios make games for just one platform meaning a plethora of great games.

Nintendo themselves said that their teams struggle with HD. Not so much the quality/technical skill of the teams but the amount of team members/time needed. In fact, they said that their teams where too small and they underestimated the time/teamsize needed to dev a HD game. Take that into account and a 1 system/2markets (Console/Portable) only makes more sense.

I  see. It's true though that  they underestimated it, but the results still are very good.

Nintendo themselves say all sorts of unicorn tongue that isn't true.
Their trouble was hiring enough people to do all the work at once, not in shifting to HD.

I had a similar thought actually. Handhelds are popular, but perhaps not as much as they were and the Wii U is obviously struggling, so i wonder if it would be ideal to combine the platforms, especially with how the gamepad is anyway.

Really it would just mean their library is much bigger. Imagine Wii U this year if Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Mario and Luigi, and Zelda had all come out on top of the Wii U games that actually came out.
