The European Nintendo TVii website has been updated and now reads as follows:

Nintendo TVii enables you to find, watch, and engage with TV shows and movies in entirely new ways.
Using the Wii U GamePad, you can browse and search for programming from sources you subscribe to, including cable and satellite channels and video-on-demand services.
We would like to apologise that we were unable to bring the Nintendo TVii service to Europe in 2013 as originally planned.
Please continue to keep an eye out for further announcements regarding this service in the near future.

I'm starting to lose hope too, especially considering the terrible sales the Wii U's been having in Europe.

I think it's because of the BBC.

I really don't think Nintendo can be blamed here apart from the fact they probably could be providing some sort of news on this issue a bit more regularly. I am sure it has much to do with contracts, licensing and the like.

so this is just going to be just a tv guide ?

why would i use this when my sky box has a on screen tv guide, also everyones freeview has a on screen guide as well, why would i want one on my wiiu gamepad, i can get one on my phone & computer as well if i want.

nintendo are useless, it's a year late, well it's not even here yet, it should of been a couple of months after release at the latest !

No, it's not just a tv guide. Since it's last update a couple weeks back it's much more useful simply because it no longer lags scrolling through programs, and the remote function is much better.

Anyways, go here for a brief overview of Tvii from Wii U release, http://wiiudaily.com/nintendo-tvii/

TVii brings together live tv and your streaming services together under one hood. It makes searching and finding the content you want much easier, and accessing it is as simple as selecting which service to view. My wife and I use Netflix, Hulu Plus and Cable TV so we have access to quite a variety of content. Instead of going into each separate app, or going from media box to media box, TVii brings all the content to one central hub.

Also, there is some MiiVerse intergration and dual screen experiences with certain parts of TVii as well including some cool things with sports which can give you scoreboards and stats on the gamepad while watching the game on your TV.

You have sales numbers for Europe?
There's hundreds of thousands of Europeans on Miiverse that own Wii U games. Doubt they don't have the console too.

Or maybe you're confusing Europe with the UK who don't offer any numbers beyond "1-10" in a chart?

I think it's because of the BBC.

Why the BBC? They're working on an app of their own for Wii U last I heard.

i don't use any streaming services, not many people do in the UK really, people can get sports scores online or on the tv they are watching the game/sport on, it all seems pointless to me, just like all that integration on the Xbone.

if it's free i'll have a go with it, but i don't think it will be any use at all to me, same as the tv remote control thing on the wiiu, that is pointless because here in the UK you have your tv on the channel the sky/cable box is connect to & you change the channels on the sky/cable box, you don't change the tv channel at all.

nintendo would be better off just making some apps for netflex if thats what people want.

But services like iPlayer, 4od and iTV player are hugely popular in the UK.

And Nintendo TVii would hopefully bring these all together into one place, along with Netflix and LoveFilm.

I dont have a sky or cable box so rely on these services to catchup on programmes, and having them all in once place, instead of having to watch them on my PC would be awesome

yes i know, but they don't need to have TVii or whatever it's called, all they need is a app.

You still seem to be missing the point of TVii, that you only need to perform a single search to obtain results from ALL the services you have.

So if you searched for Doctor Who it would tell you which episodes are available on iPlayer, Netflix and Lovefilm.  Even though I never use Netflix on WiiU due to the lack of surround sound support, I would use this.

i have a laptop for this, i don't want or need to do this on my WiiU, or any other console for that matter, they will never be as good as a laptop/pc.

in the UK you have your tv on the channel the sky/cable box is connect to & you change the channels on the sky/cable box, you don't change the tv channel at all.

I'm in Australia and that's what we do too (we don't have TVii and probably never will), I've got my Wii U set up to control both the cable box and the TV. It has two "on" buttons, one for the TV, one for the cable box. When you change the volume it changes the TV volume, when you change the channel, it changes the cable box channel. I have no idea how I did it, though.

You can control sky from the wii u as well as your tv.
A lot of folk use netflix and lovefilm/amazon.

I have a laptop that I can watch porn on, yet I still have sex when the opportunity arises.

I don't have TVii, I don't have netflix, neither love film, nor hulu... :( I only have an IPTV box, which I can't control with the gamepad. At least I can stream movies from my mac to the wii u wirelessly :)

Most htpc softwarez does has internet controls, I control my pc's MPC-HC media player with my phone and could do it with my upad if I wanted via the browser.
