Recently purchased a HDMI switch to use with my TV as it only has 1 HDMI port built in
All my other devices work perfectly fine - PC and blu-ray player, but the Wii U is giving no output through the switch, but does when connected straight into the TV's HDMI port
The TV I have is a Hitachi Alis 1080.
Have no idea why this could be, and have played around with all the Wii U output settings and still nothing

have you tried changing the Wii U output settings through the gamepad while it is plugged into the HDMI switch?
You could try and see if a different HDMI cable works with it, I have had problems before with faulty HDMI cables.

The Wii U is a little finicky with switches. Wii Mode doesn't work on my switch unless I drop to 480p

Your switch wants an HDCP compliant signal, the Wii U doesn't comply to HDCP.
Maybe, but I dunno, that's a likely reason to me though.

Have tried this, but the Wii U says there is no TV connected while it is going through the switch, so i have to plug it straight into the tv, change the resolution and then put it back through the switch to check it.
Its not the HDMI cable, it works perfectly when plugged directly into the TV.

hmmm... other people have said that switches work fine with their Wii U though.
Would a HDMI splitter be a better option? Or does that distort signals?
