I just got a second hand Wii U and when i try and go to the eshop or download an update for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate it gives me an error code of 105-0642, doesnt stop me from being able to play but it does prevent me from downloading dlc or games from the eshop, anyone know how to fix this issue?

I'd say check the router first. otherwise you my need to reformat the Wii U (transfer game saves to a usb drive first)

Im able to use the web browseron thw wii u so im pretty sure its connected. What exactly would i need to look for in the router?

Uh, is that error coming when you go to the eshop, or when you try to download?

When i goto the eshop it will start to load and then come up with the error code, and when i try to download an update for monster hunter it will say preparing update and then error

I'd say you probably need to update your console. The eShop and game updates won't work until you have. Go into system settings and there should be an update option. After this update your console should do it automatically

 

If that's not the problem then I'd contact Nintendo.

Its not the problem since when i do that it says the console is up to date, guess ill have to call them

Oh well, I tried. I don't know what it could be, then. This is actually why I don't buy consoles second hand.
