There are rumors that a new Sonic game, Sonic Dimensions is in the works for the Wii U. The game is said to be a spiritual successor of Sonic Colors that takes place directly after Sonic Generations. It will look similar to the latter in terms of graphics and will "take advantage of many Wii U specific capabilities."
The "gimmick" within the game involves a time-space continuum shift that alters Sonic's world and Sonic himself. This results in his personality being split, and you play as each fragment of this personality, each of which is denoted by a differently coloured Sonic. Each colour provides different abilities, as follows:
- Red - Cause explosions to open new areas, but is slow and has a short jump.
- Orange - Personality similar to Big the Cat.
- Purple - Move platforms and float, but has a dark attitude.
- Yellow - Faster than the rest, but easy to take damage.
There's also a 'green' colour, but the role is not listed.
Last up, Nintendo themselves are said to be helping with the level design which is supposedly resulting in a more surreal approach. Now, this is a rumour, but supposedly Sonic-based leaks have been spot-on in the past, so let's hope this is true because it sounds amazing.
