i wish threads about nintendo going 3rd party should be banned.

if they go 3rd party, they would eventually go totally out of business.

This.

Nintendo profits from the hardware sales the most, if they go 3rd party they will loose more than a half of their revenue. So, all these talks about Nintendo having to go 3rd party should be dismissed really.

I`m surprised this is coming from a business knowing person like Pachter.

3DS is making money and so will Wii U once HW parts become less expensive and SW sales rise.

So, after what will be Wii U`s worst year - for sure - just drop the thing, when it`s bound to become a profitabe business in a year or so?

People overlook two things: the goal was too high for Wii U had to offer and part of the loss came frm R&D.

If he hadn't mentioned smartphones and tablets, and if he didn't suggest Nintendo to stop production of the Wii U, he could have a point. Like, AFTER the WiiU's lifetime start to make games for other home consoles. That might be an option for Nintendo, right? Or make a powerful handheld that could also stream to your TV. Maybe in six years or so, the hardware of the WiiU would fit in a handheld. Then you'd also have a nice catalogue of WiiU games to play on your new device, and when you stream it to your TV, the handheld device works like the gamepad. Well, maybe not, but I'm quite certain Nintendo could come up with ideas better than both mine and Pachter's.

I see Pachter is off his meds again.

With his quotes, it's pretty clear that he has an agenda against Nintendo.  And it seems like his suggestions would dig Nintendo in an even deeper hole.  Stop producing/supporting the Wii U- would piss off its most loyal supporters and then help build the base of its rivals.  Then to say that Nintendo isn't even an "also ran".....  40m 3ds sales suggest otherwise.  And as you mention, HW components are going down in price.  I'll be shocked if the Wii U isn't $250 or even $200 by next year at this time- and it might not cut into their profit/bottom line as much lower prices.

One of Pachter´s bad moments. I guess he didn`t think this through.

Yeah that's what we gamers need, another console maker out of the market, then we can then sit and enjoy the bland stagnating world of MS/Sony with cod18, bf8 and Halo 12, fifa 103, all released yearly and all built round microtransaction, dlc and season passes and any other microtransaction they can come up with to nickel and dime the gamer.

The day Sega left the ring we gamers lost out big time gaming wise, we don't need to add to that loss.
