Please tell me I'm just reading this wrong. You can't honestly believe that companies have the same moronic "brand loyalty" that consumers do. Not an insult to you, may I add, everybody has an inner brand loyalty no matter how much they try not to; it's hard for me to not defend anything Pokemon, for example. Anyways, back on track: On numerous accounts Miyamoto has gone on about how he likes other games. He's said before that he enjoys LittleBigPlanet. He loves Angry Birds. I'm also pretty certain that Iwata owns a PS3, too. Whether to keep an open mind to what others are doing, or to actually enjoy the games, who knows? But you can bet that they don't stick with Nintendo products only like some religion.
Past that I'm sensing a wee bit of fanboyism, be it intentional or not. Saying things like, "THEY care about quality, THEY care about more than making money," is hilarious. All companies care about qual-- let's ignore EA here--quality. Sony cares about quality just as much as Steam, Nintendo, Microsoft, and so forth. And every company is in it to make money. Maybe one company (for clarity's sake, big companies, indies vary here) covers up that fact more than the others, but it doesn't change the fact that they're all out to make it big.
On that note, maybe the death of the Playstation and Xbox divisions wouldn't change much. But having less to compete with would change things up for sure, if even just the tiniest bit.
Dude woah you need to re-read my post, man.
First off, the thing about brand loyalty. Well first off, I'm pretty sure that a large portion of nintendo employees would be more loyal (that's what I take brand loyalty to mean, not necessarily only relying on that brand 100% of the time) to Nintendo than Sony or Microsoft for gaming, because (i don't know) they WORK there? You think Sony wouldn't love to have Miyamoto come work for them? But they won't get him cause he's happy at Nintendo.
Not that any of that really matter, that part of my post came from someone around here quoting an incident where some nintendo employee said they had never played an Xbox or PS or something. Obviously some of their employees have played some of the competition's games, but I think if you look at the way they make their games, and even types of games they make that they aren't following anyone. Anyone who doesn't think Nintendo is the pack leader right now has a bucking lot of explaining and disproving to do.
Also I think you'd be the only one who doesn't think Nintendo cares about quality. If they don't care, they must have a natural talent for it, and no care for how their money is spent. I also specifically said it seems quality come just after money for them. NOT that they care more about quality than money. I know they're a business and money has to be their first concern. I have doubts the others care about quality as much as Nintendo. Microsoft especially after listening to their original plans for the Xbone, it seemed like all money to me. If they do care as much, then they definitely aren't as good as Nintendo at showing it.
Yeah it would change things, but having all those dudebros be forced to shut up, and see them cry their girly tears? That would be bucking glorious, and kind of makes me wish for the death of the PS and XB divisions.
