I remember those. I still have the tapes for Jet Force Gemini/DK64 and Diddy Kong Racing.
Those are game cartridges. VHS was a movie format like a miniature film canister with actual tape inside.

Yeah back in the 90's is you subscribed to Nintendo power they sent you a VHS tape with promo's of upcoming games. Sometimes was direct and other times used badly acted skits. For example
