I'm gonna laugh if third parties start treating XBO like how they do Nintendo systems, not because I have anything against MS, but simply that it will come to bite devs in the ass. They've had a good thing these past couple of gens when MS and Sony were both posing a threat to each other, they could play the two against one another to get things they want. But if Xbox does end up tanking then devs are going to have no choice but to pony up with Sony and do whatever they want.

Microsoft will simply pay a publisher money.

Everyone always talks about how Wii U can't get any ports because its architecture is so different from Xbone/PS4. If they're so similar, why would a developer care for one over the other?
The Wii U uses the old PowerPC architecture, the other two consoles use x86 architecture but the PS4 is more powerful, 50% more powerful, but since when did power alone make a great console? Don't get me wrong it helps, but the proof of the PS4's superiority will lie in the strength of its games just like any other console.
As for the Wii U, the reason developers won't develop for is simple; there's no profit to be made on it. Money talks. If Nintendo gamers bought third party games, then the Wii U would be seeing a lot more ports.
