Topic title says it all. As all of you noticed, this week's Smash Bros. direct was a lot different than previous directs in its procedure. Instead of Iwata standing there talking up, we had an actual dev going in depth with their game and really giving us thorough information and explanations of what the game will offer as well as tons of nice little surprises.

Personally, I loved it. I thought having Sakurai talk about the entire thing in Japanese and having someone translate it was way more informative than Iwata trying to use his very simple and rudimentary English. In my opinion, it was a much better direct on account of its focus and its attention to detail. I think this would  be a really awesome formula for future directs. Instead of just giving us bare bones info/vids of games they could let each Direct focus on one specific game and have one of the head developers explain all about it. Most importantly I think this direct did the one thing that they NEED to start doing, drumming up hype.

It depends on the Direct. If the Direct is announcing a broad range of games, like the pre-E3, then no. If the direct is about a single game then yes.

I think Iwata needs to stop talking to us and Reggie needs to. He's much better at communicating then Iwata.
