Watch_Dogs Wii U Version Release Windows Pushed to Fall 2014 on Ubisoft’s Own Uplay Store

by Giuseppe Nelva on April 11, 2014 6:32 AM 18 @abriael

WatchDogsTrailer-14-670x376.png

When Ubisoft announced a further delay of the Wii U version of Watch_Dogs, they just said that a 2014 release for Nintendo’s home console was possible, but they didn’t give any precise data.

Now Ubisoft’s own North American Uplay store pegs the release window for the Wii U version of the game to “Fall 2014,” which I guess is better than a “2014, maybe.”

It’s worth mentioning that the European Uplay store lists the Wii U version for May 27 like the other platforms, but that’s most probably just a mistake.

Of course the “Fall 2014″ window hasn’t been announced officially, so take it with a grain of salt, but Ubisoft’s own store should be a bit more believable than Amazon.

I'm going to wait this out and hope that the Wii U version is the best version.

Good move for Ubisoft to finally set a little more precise timeframe for the game

As someone or reddit said "Way to go Ubisoft, might as well write up the story now where Ubisoft complains about nobody buying the wiiU version."

This will probably suck because it's a low-budget port from the Xbox  360 version... that's my guess

No sig.

Wasn't buying before, still not buying. Only difference is by the time it comes out we'll have Mario Kart with Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros. around the corner.

This game used to be rivaling Grand Theft Auto 5.

The game will then sell worse because wii u owners won't buy a game for their system unless its the same as the other versions, including release date.  Ubisoft will see the poor sales, and conclude that the reason is that nintendo fans just don't like non-nintendo games, regardless of whatever the real reason is.  Then, just like every other 3rd party dev, they will drop support for nintendo consoles, and wii u owners will complain about the lack of third party support.  The cycle continues!

Already moved my pre-order over to PS4, it's pointless releasing on the WiiU so long after the others.

I guess they view the consoles audience in a bubble. Or they do not want to send it out against Mario Kart.

Maybe, just maybe, this is on the up and up. On the other hand, canceling it later will make less of an impact.

No, Ubisoft will know what the late release date will cause bad sales. They can compare the sales of games like Splinter Cell Blacklist to know that a lot of games will meet poor sales on the Wii U.

Ah, well.

At least Mario Kart can keep our attentions. Otherwise I think I would have completely forgot about Watch_Dogs, I would have been too busy paying Mario Kart since it came out so recently.
