Just was on ign. Apparently may 17-18 I belive it was O_o game stop in the us will be demoing the game and giving away posters. Check the detes on ign, I imagine GameStops site May also/should have it as well

Ign's site says the US. That said we know how reliable they are. Best to check GameStops site for a confirmation. I belive they said it will be available in around 2700 stores. And if it's not in canada you could always take a short drive if your border close. Also click on gimbals thing should take you to GameStops page tells you the closest ones.

Well in Canada gamestops are call EB games, and when I clicked on the link it just takes me to the EB games home page...
I can't drive by myself legally yet, and there's no way my rents will drive me 2-3 hours to play a game.

I'm with cranky on this one now wasn't sure if Id go at first, but after spending some time on the mk8 miiverse community I'm all siked to check it out. Watching the vids and pics there was able to change my mind. Do feel bad the for the community members here that can't make the event. Someone should tape it for those that can't go, would be interesting.
Just got back from GameStop and testing out Mario kart 8. I was the only one there at the demo thankfully, sadly I only had the time for 1run as I had stuff to do. So I picked the airport level. Was fun and the game is even more gorgeous in person. Controls also felt tight. Really can't wait for this game..........new this would happen if I tried it lol. Also should recomend contacting your local game stop ASAP mine is having a tournament today and the winners can compete tomorrow at another nearby GameStop. The overall winner gets Mario kart 8 free.

Yeah, all the direct footage reviewers have been uploading has been 720 as well. :/ I thought it was native 1080p too, but I guess not. Here's hoping we'll get some equally gorgeous 1080p games in the future!

I played it at JB Hi-Fi in Australia yesterday. Just a demo though, a few courses and no battle mode.

To be fair, it probably does output in 1080, just upscaled from 720.
