1. All developers say that the Wii U online is very good. (No more friend codes  )
2. Apps are not OWNED by anybody so that means that Nintendo can do whatever they want with the apps

No, I mean the people who design the apps. If it's only Nintendo, then it will kinda suck. The app developers(IE Rovio) are the ones I was talking about

Games that refuse to use Gameplay effectively to do anything are like films that refuse to use cinematography in film to do anything.

Am I the only person that is actually not surprised by this news. Stop being blind, an app is an application, the Wii Menu has always had apps, they were just called channels. The Old Xbox Experience had apps well before the new Metro Xbox Experience launched, Facebook, Twitter, Video Kinect, ESPN, Netflix, they were all apps. PS3 also has apps, Music Unlimited, Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, 4oD, and other TV content, along side Lovefilm, PS Home.

Consoles have had apps and I doubt Nintendo is going to be less strict because MS is not being less strict with the Xbox Apps and only allowing premium content, which is no different from what all these companies have been doing for the past years.

Just because store has the word app in its name doesn't mean its a game changer. The 3DS has an appstore too, I didn't hear anyone else get too excited, thats because people don't see it as an app store, despite it being one... and slightly locked down, which is expected for a console.

My logic behind why it's not going to be like an iOS app store is because I don't think Nintendo, or any games console could do it apart from Microsoft, its simple to program apps for the xbox as they're all written in C# and run on Silverlight. If MS isn't opening up then I don't think the WiiU have an open app store.

The title makes this sound like it's supposed to be surprising. I would've been surprised if it didn't have one considering all of the current generation consoles, including the Wii have online stores.

This tread should be on Games. Since App stores are softwares not hardwares.

But apps aren't technically games in themselves. Wii U Hardware is more of a subforum meant for Wii U centric details, where as the Wii U Games, are well, games for the Wii U. It probably fits better here anyway, since it more general anyway.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

If this is true we could get some of those IOS and Android fans coming to the Wii U. That would be great! The more people to own a Wii U the better for Nintendo.

Well I strongly disagree because nintendo really needs a way to compete against apple and google.
