We moved to Guatemala two months ago (not forever but not sure when we're coming back to the US) and didn't bring the Wii U with us (big mistake!). At any rate, I was thinking of buying a Wii for some gaming and to watch Netflix. I know that certain online features were disabled recently, though. If I buy a brand new console, is it still possible to use the Wii Shop to download VC games and to download Netflix??
Wii still able to download VC / Netflix?

I'm pretty sure that the VC still works on the Wii. I have no idea about Netflix though, it should work if you can get Netflix through the Wii Shop Channel I think.
Special thanks to Horchata. I appreciate it so much.

Video streaming channels (Youtube, Hulu, Amazon, Netflix, etc) and the Wii Shop are all still functional. It's only the online services for the games themselves that've been shut down.

Awesome, thanks!
But no HD netflix tho ;_;
You could always get a new Wii U and send it to me when you're done with it
The apartment we're renting doesn't have an HDTV so it'll be fine. Looking forward to maybe playing some Wii and GC games on a screen that doesn't make them look so jaggy
