Does anyone have a good recommendation for a 2nd controller for the Wii U? Obviously the gamepad comes as the #1 but after that there are several options and I'm not entirely sure which would be the best. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Pro controller.
Just make sure to buy the pro in person froma trustworthy place like Gamestop,Best Buy. DOn't buy online. Many fakes sold through amazon and others.
Pro controller is best tho.

well, it depends on what you are going to play
if you have people over and you are playign wii u games, pro controller, its a gamepad without a screen, but if you are palying wii games, or wii u games with better controller options (pikmin 3 metroid prime etc) then you'd want a wii mote and nunchuk
so it just comes down to...what exactly would you be using the controller for, if its just to have it for a replacement gamepad...pro controller

Or you could just make sure the seller is actually Nintendo themselves on it
Anyway, for best compatibility, it's probably best going for the Wii Remote and Nunchuck combo, the Pro Controller is good, but not all games are compatible with it [I think]

Not sure your sentence makes much sense. If you mean the controller well that's the point of the fakes. They look pretty real at first glance and even the box itself. Only having one in your hands can you spot the differences and they are subtle.

As for a seller. Sellers can lie. Most people who purchase items buy them from a retailer not the manufacturer. Yes you can buy from them. Just be paying full price.

I mean making sure it is sold by Amazon and not a 3rd party seller (http://www.amazon.co... Pro Controller )

A lot of people have bought pro controllers online from Nintendo and had no problem.

I believe he was talking about third party sellers
I know, I mean that people have found official first party seller without issue.

duh. However 3rd party sellers even with good reviews can be decieved themselves. So it's best to buy from a direct source like Nintendo or Best Buy or Gamestop,Walmart etc etc

Wii U Pro Controller, though for certain games Wii Mote is still a good choice. For VC, the Wii classic controller is good too.
