Not confusing, makes sense if you know how the NFC tech works. Smash is the core game right now that uses Amiibo fully. It saves data to the Amiibo figure nfc chip. The other supported titles currently just need to know which Amiibo you activated, it doesn't need to save any data. It just unlocks content for that specific Amiibo.

When we get other games that do need to write data to the figurine, you'll have to make a compromise if you want to use it in SMASH. The NFC chip is only able to hold a very small amount of data. Most likely under 25 kb's. In Wii U settings, you'll be able to clear the data on the figure to free it up for the other game you want to use it in.

I think the main worry is random or confusing loss of save data.

I am sure there will be prompts and I don't think it will even allow you to overwrite by mistake if using another game that needs to save data.

They should make a separate Amiibo Plaza or App rather than have it in Wii U settings to manage this stuff and give a few extra options for your figurines.

There are options in settings for the amiibo already, I believe that's how you will control those things.

He knows thats why he said "rather than have it in Wii U settings". I'm torn I think the settings is good, but a app could be nice. But I don't see how much extra stuff it could give personally..
