My girlfriend and i bought each other Wii u for xmas.  Neither of us are gamers so really have no idea how this all works. After setting up the wii playing the included games worked fine and still do however we wanted one of the old wii games (wii sports resort). We bought a used game on eBay and it seemed to work for one day..actually it had a count down which gave us 24 hours before we could change what we thought maybe was a chapter or something. Bottom line now we cannot us this game, all the games internally are greyed out after the 24 hour period and it looks as though its asking us to purchase something??  We bought this game used for $50 do we really only get a trial period? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe it has to do with how we set the system up. We did all the full updates etc.  The seller stated there was an included code but we did not see that. Do the games require a code be entered before you can use them? If so I imagine then no one could sell a used game if the code was already used.  Again we have no idea but now we cannot use of the games within the wii sports resort unless we purchase something internally through the nintendo store.

Help!!!

Are you sure you booted up wii sports resort and not wii sports club?? Wii sports club is an eshop and physical title that allows online multiplayer capabilities. The wii u may have downloaded and installed a free trial for you automatically. Which expires after a certain amount of time if i remember correctly.

To use wii games, make sure you are in the wii menu, you cannot access wii games via the Wii U without going into Wii mode.

How do I boot up and use the wii sports resort disc when inserted into the wii u console? To be honest I am not sure between the club sports and resort sports. We were surprised we only had access to 5 games since the disc for wii sports resort has 12. Does the trial wii sports club only have access to 5 trial games (ie. boxing, bowling, baseball, etc)?

I am pretty sure you were playing wii sports club then. It is only the sports, tennis, bowling, boxing, golf, baseball.

Booting into Wii Mode is explained here http://en-americas-s...to-the-wii-menu

Or, if the Wii U is already on, find the Wii icon and open up the app, which will take you into wii mode.
