On reddit, they called it the Amiibola Crisis, and it was just that. I was second in line and still didn't get what I went for (Ness). Even the dude in front of me couldn't get what he wanted.
The GameStop servers broke down nationwide today. I managed to get Pac Man and the Splatoon 3 pack but I'm baffled that even though I was their a half hour early, I couldn't even order what I wanted.

I didn't realize that amiibo preorders went up today and I actually wandered into a gamestop around 3pm MST. There were people there in line trying to order amiibos and aparently all gamestop servers went down around 1 and they couldn't actually submit orders for an hour or two (I was lucky to get there at the tail-end of the amiibo orders).
I could have ordered a Ness, Pac-Man, or Robin if I wanted to, but I wasn't feeling it and was there to preorder SMT DeSu 2 instead.
Looks like these amiibos are going to be in the same situation like the other sought after ones.
