I've heard different stories on the subject, with some taking months and others similar to mine being only a day or less.
I don't really know how the staff handles registrations. I mean, I've seen some weirdos get in quick.

It's already been a few days for me...Hopefully it does not take months.
The people that own NeoGAF seem that they really want a professional site.

I had an account a few years back, but I never posted so they deleted me.
Mine was confirmed in a day.
I believe all they do is check email addresses, to see if you've registered before or if you're a robot.
That's all I can imagine they do, unless they google the nickname you use to register.

I use my work email.
It specifically states on the site that only ISPs, educational emails, and work emails are the only ones that go. This is to keep the number of alternate accounts limited.
