Just a notifier for those that might not think of it.

Developers such as Gearbox ... etc that have weighted in on the WiiU ... only see generally, most of these developers won't push to the limits of the machine - their comments are welcome but it's just the beginnign of what we know about wiiu.

You see many sources from inside saying counter-information

At some point they say "pretty powerful" but at some point they say "on par" then they go again it has "more resources" ... i mean make up your mind.

There are many journalists and sources without proper tech experience to relay these info accurately - many sites spin and miscontext what has been indicated.

That "on par" might be a comment for the game Darksiders 2 it self as it won't be improved graphically because it was not designed on Wiiu from the start.

We already know WiiU would flop if it been the same as X360 and PS3 ... it's just not possible practically - those chips are stone age.

The WiiU's advance might even be better because of more advanced coding that will be possible with new feature-wise as well as middleware ... and speaking of consoles, they have full hardware access, means there's a lot of room to optimize compared to PC, the age of X360 and PS3 being called "hardcore" gaming is over.

With this more memory - the devs will be able to greatly enhance their games - memory was the main bottleneck.

Personally - i can't wait Carmack from id software to talk about the console - these mainstream devs don't really open up the picture from a pro view ... these comments are so rough.

"on par" thing is pretty low on it's credibility since there was no such sources from those that talked about wiiu in the firstplace ... "on par" was almost a always linked to certain devs and other sites took it for granted

This is just as a warning for more developers putting a non-tech person to speak for them or sharing too little details to make a point at which the statement feels confusing. Do not be impacted by these shallow opinions and wait for the PROs!

EDIT: whoops forgot to finish title

I meant: "Dont be tricked with mediocre developer claims and loose non-tech-skill media assumptions"

In every media article when something is said - the editor puts in his own asumptions.

So basically, you are saying, that the Wii U will have untapped power when it's released, and will be that way for some time to come after release.

I'm pretty sure that was a given.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

Yeah I agree. At this point it wouldn't suprise me if the wii u is closer to 2 times the power of xbox360. I'm not expecting an ultra power console but I also welcome a surprise... NINTENDO!

I agree with you stewox there has been some much confusion with some devs saying it's really power and the other saying its on par with current but it doesn't make any sense why would Nintendo make a console that's the same as all console this gen and except people to buy it because it sure wouldn't buy the Wii U if that was the case.

It's so obviously logical to a normal tech person that if they want their controller tablets to even talk about multiple outputs at the same time ... being on par with the current gen would almost certainly not be possible with the whole goal of making 1080p native games ...

A person that believes this "on par" cannot be said has credible views or experiences with the tech world.

The controller screens could possibly even be in 720p as rumored .... that would require much more headroom in order to achieve the vision it actually plays on ... and i think some devs will even try to lower the controller rez just to get better headroom for the mains screen ... since what the heck those menus don't need that fidelity ... a fully customizable system would work so nicely that the controller screen would adjust depending on what you're doing in the game so for example the game software would keep the low resolution on the controller while the majority of the action is on the main screen and only a map or info/HUD stuff is on the controller, but when the gameplay gets to a point to some special moment of using the controller with the main screen to

So see the possibilities of a dynamic system and that's why i don't worry about the controller taking much ... and even if it's 720p always , there is no much action going on the controller screen with the standard hud/info stuff that a usual western-FPS would have. I mean it's not going to take the same level of performance as people might think ... "oh it 720p then it'll take half the perf" totally not since it's all down to how much activity does the screen make.

But the 720p isn't that much of belivable anyways since the screen is pretty small like 6.2 inch .... it's already going to be very fine and pixel density is a lot more than a usual HDTV.

Now you heard all this points ... now try to remember what nintendo shown and particularly the GDC panorama tecj demo you just see what they do needs much more ... games would have to be crappier than X360 and PS3 if the system would ... don't even think about all of them being native 1080p

I think it's pretty definitive now ... it's 3 to 5 times more powerful and that's only a rough overall speculation, this is not "every spec x5" this is rough power and nothing detailed .. some components might have a bigger multipler some might have less.

I have a hard time even listening to vigil games(darksiders 2)... Seriously I had never heard of them until they started talking about wii u. Im just saying that they probably don't have the ability to utilize mass resources like developers such as ubisoft or activision.

So because they don't have the resources to fully utilise the Wii U power's they shouldn't be trusted with hardware testimonies?
That makes a lot of sense.

(And I'm not being sarcastic either)

Activision wouldn't even be able to tap the true potential of any console.

I have to agree, if COD is any indicator of this.

Also I would like to add Vigil Games are a relatively new Game Company as there first game has been Darksiders 1 from 2010, second game will be Darksiders 2 in 2012 and Warhammer for PC which is scheduled for release in 2013.
