After this(http://mynintendonew...by-ubisoft-dev/) recent leak, further review of the supposed GPU suggests that the Wii U MIGHT just support 4 U pads.

http://www.amd.com/u...overview.aspx#2

The Supposed GPU states that it has, and I quote, "
  • AMD Eyefinity multi-display technology
  • Native support for up to 5 simultaneous displays
  • Independent resolutions, refresh rates, color controls, and video overlays
  • Display grouping
  • Combine multiple displays to behave like a single large display"
[/list]While this isn't any confirmation in the slightest, it IS possible that if this is the GPU, that 4 U pads can be used at one time.

What do you guys think? Possible, or not likely in the slightest.

I'm not that convinced about that leak from MyNintendoNews. One of the claims is Crytek working on Wii U. Now, that could mean they either work on a game, or they work on optimizing the Cry Engine for Wii U. Judging from how the site mentions it, it seems like they claim Crytek is working on a game, but in an interview with the German news website Golem.de, Cevat Yerli of Crytek mentions:

IGM: Sonys Playstation Vita ist seit Februar auf dem Markt, Nintendos Wii U soll Ende des Jahres folgen. Was plant Crytek für diese Konsolen?
Yerli: Weder zur einen noch zur anderen Konsole haben wir aktuell etwas geplant. Für die Wii U wird es Spiele geben, die mit der Cry Engine laufen, allerdings stammen die dann von Lizenznehmern.

This translates to (nope, not Google Translator):

IGM: Sony's Playstation Vita has launched in February, Nintendo's Wii U is supposed to follow towards the end of the year. What does Crytek plan for those consoles?
Yerli: We have no plans for either console yet. There will be games using the Cry Engine for Wii U, but these will be made by license holders.

So, I'm not fully convinced of the site's credibility, but I honestly don't know.

Concerning the GPU: Even though it supports up to 5 devices, depending on the game, the problem could be that the GPU's just not fast enough to render all these images.

EDIT: Just noticed that confirms games using the Cry Engine coming to Wii U? He doesn't mention the time frame, though.

No, it won't.

That's an AMD card, nothing to do with what Nintendo's console will do.
"oh but it's got am amd card" doesn't matter, it's a custom chip for Nintendo.

just as i have predicted for months now, jessedog will back me up on this

i repeat, its really not too difficult, its only a bit more difficult than 4 player split screen on ps3 cos its like running 4 seperate games. the extra difficulty is in rendering more pixels but being a "powerful powerful... next gen system" the wii u should be able to do it

Who is gonna buy 4 of them anyway, they will be expensive as hell. I mean, motioncensor, camera, 6,2 inch 480p (?) touchscreen (single touch resistive though, which is cheaper than multitouch capacitive), NFC, all other functions a controller has... Good for about 80 dollars, seeing a Wii + Nunchuck already is 60.

I'd want 4, but it may be as expensive as a Wii U itself.
Also, a Wii Remote+Nunchuk is 40-50 dollars.

^Well, when they first came out in Europe they were 60 euros together. Nevertheless, it will be expensive.

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible(Assuming that the GPU and cpu can handle it.) If need be, they can drop the graphics quality, like Halo does, or the Frame Rate, Like Mario Kart.

Lan Parties? Couch Gamers like my 2 bro's and myself, there is a market for it.

Well then it would be a nice option. But none of my friends will buy a Wii U I think -_- but will play it at my house. So I am screwed.

they will probably want one after they play it at urs. anyway i have 4 friends who want it and these same 4 friends always hang out together and play some xbox games 4 player split screen. they do not want to use wii motes at all, that's why they didn't get wiis so 4 tablet support is vital. it decides whether im the only one to get a wii u or if all my friends do with me

Even if the hardware technically is possible to do that its nothing guys, its not practical, at least not at the beginning as they will not focus on the casual and 4 player quiz games can wait.

Thats that .... the guy just took that info fromm AMDs site bwahaha ... a classic mistake, thats a PC card, it has nothing to do with the wiiu ... every rumor has just been using that for comparrison equivalent. lold

Even if they retain most features the original chip had ... even something on top uts still totally custom.

Its not just a power issue, but we don't know what Nintendo uses for communication. If they are looking to keep the price down, they may go with two receivers. Just friends on how the controller.

no

Gpu will strangle to produce 5x screens and all of them not just a split screen, but as a virtual environment.. Also the cpu will not be able to handle 4 x screen controllers.. and its such a stupid thing, about 4 screen controllers..

For example if u move the U pad down.. u see the road, if u move it up, u see the sky... that drains lots of cpu and gpu power... 2 is extreme.. Eyefinity HAS NOTHING to do with that.. Eyefinity is SPLIT SCREEN.. not virtual.
