“With Wii, when we brought out motion controls and introduced that as a new idea in gaming, initially there were people who didn’t understand it. Three years later, our competitors both came out with their own motion control systems.”

“We announced second screen gaming last year, and it’s somewhat flattering that it only took people a year this time around.”
“Smart Glass just doesn’t look like a peripheral for a games system. Microsoft may have used TV shows and IMDB to showcase Smart Glass, but as far as games go, gamers trying to incorporate Smart Glass into play sessions may find themselves limited by their number of hands.”

“I’m not sure how, as a gamer, I would manipulate a second screen with most hands on my controller. We don’t have three hands, unfortunately.”

Moffit came out strong with that response. The funny thing is, he's right.

Smart glass is pretty much just a fancy name for Microsoft getting consumers to buy their other products.

False. It is pretty much a fancy name for something that will fail. :P

The strategy of Microsoft and Sony has been revealed! Apparently, they are going to copy some amazing company called "Nintendo."

That's because with Nintendo, it's actually a controller with all the fixings of a controller (analog sticks, face buttons, triggers, etc) that will come with the system. With Microsoft's Smart Glass you have to have your own smartphone or tablet, which won't have several of those key features that make up the traditional gamepad. So where the Wii U will have the controller and "tablet" in one, easy to hold package; if you wanted to use Smart Glass to complement your game play, you would need to constantly switch between the XBox controller and your own tablet, or use touchscreen buttons, which are rather inaccurate in comparison to physical control inputs, and would leave next to no room for an actual view of the game on a smartphone. Overall Microsoft's approach with this (assuming they do intend to use this program for actual game play, as I've also heard reports that it'll be strictly for media viewing and checking leader boards) just seems kind-of half-baked from a game play perspective.

Exactly Andy, you fail to take into consideration those of us with more than two arms.

Forget number of hands needed to play this scheme. What about price? A tablet or smartphone can easily run you another $200 in addition to the system cost, the cost of a compatible game, and the cost of the services on a tablet or smartphone. It's not worth the time or money.

I think it's more of an extra incentive to buy those tablets or smartphones, it's not like their compatibility with the 360 is their only feature.

Eh, that's true. Even so, it really isn't worth the hassle in the long run to have to handle the controller and tablet at the same time.

The use of the tablets will be limited(and what uses it has will probably be quite laggy).
I predict that the game devs will just find it to gimmicky to include in their game and probably just wont include the feature.
The success depends on how well the tablet interacts with the xbox, how it will improve gameplay, and will it be a more comfortable solution.

Tablets don't even have buttons. Therefore, this will be way worse than the Wii U gamepad, which is awesome and is actually made for gaming.
No sig.
