I've been thinking, while Unreal 4 is great. It's just built for next gen, mainly next gen PCs in mind. It's not scalable, and it's probably going to be expensive (Unreal 3 cost $50, 000 for a licence, and the PS360 dev kits cost $20, 000 per kit). so let's say this will be $75, 000 or even $100, 000 at launch, plus having a next gen console dev-kit for three consoles, it's going to add up.

Now CryEngine 3 AND Frostbite 2 are out, and they're scalable, they're next gen ready to rival Unreal Engine 4, and they're probably cheaper.

My guess is that most next gen console games will be using mostly Unreal 3.5, CryEngine 3 and Frostbite 2, on the higher end of the scale. It's hard to think that Unreal 4 will get man developers apart from larger studios, and even they have to consider the cost compared to rivals. It might take too long for Epic to get developers to buy a next-gen only kit than one that you can scale back easily to a PS3 or 360.

This could also mean that Wii U could get scaled down ports of next-gen games, which would still look pretty darn good anyway.

Anyway, thoughts?

I think it's very safe to say when Xbox 720 and PS 4 launch we will see a flood of ported games with tact on touch screen controls even even if the Wii U can run Unreal 4

Well I'm sort a doubtful that the Wii U could run Unreal 4, maybe the upgrades given in Unreal 3 (Samaritan demo), but probably not Unreal 4. But yeah I reckon around 60% of 8th Gen games will be available on Wii U in their first year of release.

I strongly believe the Wii U can run Unreal Engine 4. Nintendo may have improved the processors and added more RAM under Wii U's hood. Hopefully when next year comes, we'll be seeing some (if not all) Wii U titles being powered by Unreal 4.

if the Iphone 4 can run UE4, the Wii U probably will too. I want to know if it can run luminous.
