Sorry i was really unsure on what to have as a title.

But anyway im gonna cut and paste some stuff i heard from an EB-Games newsletter (Which usually gets it's information from reliable sources).

Gaikai, one of the forerunners in Cloud Gaming technology, was acquired by Sony this week. The Gaikai system allows games to be streamed to any device with a screen, with the actual console processing taking place elsewhere. The possibility of Sony integrating this technology into future products is extremely exciting, and could change the way we game. The technology will take time to develop, but it could mean that the Playstation 4 will be the last console you ever need to buy, with all the graphics and processing upgrades taking place at the main server.

Sounds good, as long as Nintendo uses this as well.
All though it will definitely come with some downsides.

Sorry for my poor grammer

I don't believe this is already a thread, but if it is than just lock it

I have my doubts about cloud gaming because it's both good and bad.The good thing is you don't every need to upgrade hardware every again, you cant misplace your games, and don't have to go through the hassle of changing game disks or worry about storage because it's stored right in the sever. Now the bad thing is you don't really own a game because they can take the game off the severs if not that many people use it so you can't come back to the game after a couple months to a year if the game doesn't have a high enough popularity. Also you can't buy used games so if you can't afford full priced games your out of luck, and also allot of people have bandwidth caps and can't go over their limit or risk having to pay extra. Also not everyone has top notch internet speed so that's another problem because the graphics off the game depends on your internet speed so even if you have a good computer monitor or TV it still may not look that good.

I don't really like the idea of Cloud Gaming. It all relies on internet speed really, it could easily lag if you don't have a fast enough connection. And what if your internet goes down for a while? Or if you don't have it at all? Would that bar you from playing games on the PS4 entirely?

I have the fastest internet that my area can provide, and I still can't even handle Skype calling and Minecraft multiplayer at the same time.

Cloud gaming is going to be tough. It's been attempted before with OnLive, and I'm not sure whether that thing had great success or not.

New technology, psh. The cloud is so 2007.

They bought it on the 2nd. Sony didn't buy it, PlayStation did. :P
Let me drag up the official press release about it where they had to clarify that.

You hate not owning things. :(

I agree, I don't and never will buy cloud games unless I'm going to play them right away and they're extremely cheap.
The idea that they could just go "F you, all your games are now expired." any time they want to isn't something I want to buy into.
But if the buy in is cheap, it's okay not to own it forever for me.
OnLive has the ability to rent games, which is the model that makes sense for cloud gaming in my opinion.

By the way, GaiKai is mostly demos, so I can see Sony doing live demos you don't need to download on PSN/3 and PS4. I don't see them investing into it so heavily as to have their potential or existing customers all able to stream games, it'd be too expensive.

Lagtown.

Because of timing, some games will still lack balance like online gaming today. This isnt a fix. Just a new format where the suits win a little more. Don't be fooled.

Most users will probabley have to replace their console despite it not requireing updates due to common problems that still affect todays consoles such as overheating.

But thats fairly obvious.
